R&D Senior Engineer- Senior DB and Backend Developer

**The opportunity:** Join Hitachi Energys India Development Centre (IDC), an R&D organization in Chennai and Bangalore. You will work with global R&D and research centers across 12 countries. You will help design and deliver digital solutions and product capabilities. You will build modern, secure, high-performing user interfaces. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to engineering best practices, and mentor other developers. **How youll make an impact:** - Design, write, and optimize complex PostgreSQL queries, including stored functions, triggers, views, joins, and window functions. - Improve database performance through index tuning, query plan analysis, and partitioning when needed. - Build backend services using C#/.NET and/or Python, integrated with PostgreSQL. - Develop and maintain GraphQL APIs using Hasura on top of PostgreSQL. - Build REST and GraphQL endpoints with validations and structured responses. - Apply strong transaction handling, error control, and concurrency management. **Your background:** - Education: (to be confirmed) - Experience: 8+ years working with relational databases, with deep expertise in PostgreSQL. - Strong experience with PL/pgSQL, stored routines, triggers, window functions, query tuning, and indexing strategies. - Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL locking, deadlocks, and concurrency/isolation levels. - 5+ years developing backend applications with C#/.NET and/or Python. - 2+ years working with GraphQL and Hasura on PostgreSQL. - Strong understanding of REST API design and backend architecture. - Experience using Git and standard development workflows. - Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required. **More about us** - Work with global R&D teams across multiple countries and technology areas. - Opportunities to learn, mentor, and grow through challenging product development work. - Primary locations: Chennai (India Development Centre (IDC)).
