**RTOS** **Kernel** **Testing & Automation Engineer (3+ Years)** **Job Summary** We are seeking highly motivated engineers with experience in **Embedded Software Testing,** **RTOS** **Kernel** **Validation, and Test Automation**. The role involves hands-on testing of RTOS kernel features, development of test frameworks, creation of test plans, automation of test cases, and debugging complex software issues across embedded platforms. **Key Responsibilities** - Develop, execute, and automate **RTOS** **kernel** **validation test cases** using **C and Python**. - Design and implement test frameworks, test drivers, and automation infrastructure for validating kernel features. - Create comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test coverage strategies for new RTOS features. - Validate core RTOS kernel components including: - Task/Thread Management - Scheduling and Context Switching - Memory Management and Allocation - Inter-Process Communication (IPC) - Synchronization Mechanisms (Mutex, Semaphore, Event, Queue) - Interrupt and Exception Handling - Timer Services - Power Management - Analyze kernel traces, system logs, crash dumps, and debug issues to root cause using the AI Tools - Develop regression suites and continuous integration test automation for kernel validation. - Collaborate with kernel developers, COREBSP teams, and system software teams to resolve defects and improve product quality. - Participate in feature reviews, requirement analysis, and test strategy definition. **Required Skills** - Strong programming skills in **C and Python** with ability to design and develop test solutions from scratch. - Hands-on experience in **RTOS** **Kernel** **Testing/Validation** (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, ThreadX, QNX, VxWorks, or similar RTOS). - Strong understanding of: - RTOS Architecture - Thread Scheduling Algorithms - Context Switching - Memory Management - Interrupt Handling - Synchronization Mechanisms - Kernel Debugging - Experience with **Embedded Systems**, BSPs, Bootloaders, Device Drivers, and Low-Level Firmware Validation. - Familiarity with **ARM Architecture**, Embedded Linux, and multi-core systems. - Strong debugging skills using logs, traces, crash dumps, and kernel debugging tools. - Experience with version control and development tools such as **Git, Perforce, Gerrit/Code Collab**, and **JIRA**. - Knowledge of Software Quality processes, test methodologies, and automation frameworks. **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with **Zephyr** **RTOS** kernel development or validation. - Exposure to DSP/RTOS environments and heterogeneous compute architectures. - Experience with hardware simulators, emulators, and pre-silicon validation environments. - Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution systems. - Familiarity with performance, scalability, and power management testing of RTOS kernels **Soft Skills** - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment. - Self-driven team player with leadership potential and passion for embedded systems and RTOS technologies.
