**Domain** - Strong hands-on experience in **SAP BTP extension development** for S/4HANA - Experience with **CAP (Node.js/Java)** and RESTful service design - Strong integration exposure: **CPI**, APIs (OData/REST), Cloud Connector, Destinations - UI development skills with **SAPUI5 / Fiori Elements** - Security concepts: **IAS/IPS**, **OAuth2**, **XSUAA**, role collections - Data/persistence exposure with **SAP HANA Cloud** (HDI, modeling, performance) - Familiarity with clean-core and extension patterns for upgrade-safe implementations **Soft Skills** - Strong communication and stakeholder management - Problem solving mindset; ownership for RCA and resolution - Agile delivery experience (Scrum/Kanban) - Documentation discipline and quality orientation **Certifications** - SAP Certified Development Associate **SAP Extension Suite / SAP BTP** - SAP Certified **CAP / SAP HANA Cloud** (where applicable) - Agile/Scrum certification (optional) - Explain **clean-core** and when you choose **side-by-side** extensions on BTP vs in-app enhancements. - Walk through a reference architecture for **CAP service + UI5 app** integrating with **S/4 OData** via **Destinations/Cloud Connector**. **1) BTP Extension Design (Clean Core / Side-by-Side)** - Design extension architecture aligned to **clean-core** and upgrade-safe principles - Select appropriate approach: **CAP**, **RAP exposure**, APIs, events, or workflow-based patterns - Define service contracts, integration approach, and non-functional requirements (security/performance) **2) CAP Development (Node.js/Java)** - Develop backend services using **SAP CAP** (Node.js or Java): - Service definitions, persistence, validations, business rules - Multitenancy considerations (if applicable) - Build APIs integrating with S/4 (OData/REST/SOAP) and external systems - Implement error handling, resiliency, and observability (logs/metrics/traces) **3) Integration with S/4HANA & Enterprise Landscape** - Configure and consume S/4 interfaces via: - **Destinations**, **Connectivity service**, **Cloud Connector** - **CPI** iFlows, API Management policies (where in scope) - Implement event-driven scenarios using **Event Mesh** (if applicable) - Ensure secure connectivity, authentication, and authorization end-to-end **4) UI Development (Fiori/UI5 on BTP)** - Build front-end applications using **SAPUI5/Fiori Elements** hosted on BTP - Configure navigation and role-based access using: - **Launchpad Service** / **Work Zone** (if applicable) - Ensure consistent UX, responsiveness, and performance best practices **5) Security & Identity** - Implement security using: - **XSUAA/OAuth2**, role collections, scopes, and JWT-based access - **IAS/IPS** integration for corporate IdP/SSO (as applicable) - Apply secure coding practices, secrets management, and compliance controls **6) Data & Persistence (HANA Cloud)** - Model data and persistence using: - **SAP HANA Cloud** (HDI containers, schema design, performance tuning) - Optimize queries, indexing, and data growth handling; design retention/archival approach **7) DevOps, Transport & Operations** - Implement CI/CD pipelines, branching standards, and automated deployments - Use Cloud Transport Management (if applicable) and manage release readiness - Set up monitoring/alerts (BTP cockpit, logs, application health) and support hypercare **8) Documentation & Collaboration** - Create technical design documents, runbooks, SOPs, and KT for support teams - Participate in Agile ceremonies: estimation, sprint planning, demos, retros Communicate risks, dependencies, and progress with stakeholders
