**Job Description SAP Basis Lead (S/4HANA)** **Key Responsibilities** **1. SAP Basis Operations & Administration** - Lead SAP Basis operations across landscapes (DEV, QA, PROD) - Perform system installations, upgrades, patches, and kernel updates - Manage SAP S/4HANA, ECC, BW, PI/PO, Fiori, and Solution Manager systems - Monitor system health, performance, and availability **2. S/4HANA Environment Management** - Manage HANA database administration (backup, recovery, performance tuning) - Handle S/4HANA system refreshes, client copies, and transport management - Ensure best practices for HANA memory and performance optimization **3. Project & Transition Support** - Lead **S/4HANA implementation, conversion, or upgrade projects** - Support system landscape design and architecture decisions - Coordinate with functional and technical teams during go-live and hypercare **4. Performance & Optimization** - Identify performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues - Optimize system resources, workload distribution, and batch job scheduling - Perform proactive system tuning and housekeeping **5. Security & Compliance** - Ensure compliance with SAP security policies and audit requirements - Support user administration, role management coordination (with security team) - Implement SAP Notes and security patches **6. Incident & Problem Management** - Handle critical production incidents and escalations - Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures - Ensure SLA adherence and service delivery excellence **7. Integration & Technical Ecosystem** - Manage integrations between SAP and third-party systems - Support interfaces such as IDocs, RFCs, APIs, and middleware tools - Coordinate with infrastructure teams (OS, DB, Network, Cloud) **8. Automation & Continuous Improvement** - Drive automation of routine Basis activities using scripts or tools - Implement monitoring tools and dashboards - Improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort **Required Skills & Experience** **Technical Skills** - Strong hands-on experience in: - SAP S/4HANA BASIS administration - SAP HANA Database (Studio, Cockpit) - SAP NetWeaver, ECC, BW, and Fiori - Expertise in: - System copy, refresh, and transport management - Kernel upgrades, patches, SP/EHP upgrades - SAP Solution Manager (Charm, Monitoring) - Knowledge of: - Cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP – preferably Azure) - OS (Linux/Unix/Windows) & DB (HANA, Oracle) **Tools & Technologies** - SAP Solution Manager / Focused Run - Monitoring tools (EarlyWatch, CCMS, etc.) - ITSM tools (ServiceNow preferred) **Leadership & Soft Skills** - Lead and mentor BASIS team members - Strong stakeholder communication skills - Ability to manage client expectations (global customers preferred) - Experience working in **manufacturing domain** is a plus **Preferred Qualifications** - SAP certifications (S/4HANA / HANA / BASIS) - Experience in **Brownfield / Greenfield S/4HANA implementations** - Exposure to DevOps and automation tools - Knowledge of **SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform)** **Key Deliverables** - Stable and optimized SAP system landscape - Successful execution of S/4HANA initiatives - Reduced system downtime and improved performance - Compliance with audit and security requirements **Nice to Have (Simpson Strong-Tie Context)** - Experience working with **manufacturing / supply chain processes** - Knowledge of integration with MES / PLM systems - Exposure to global multi-region SAP deployments **Summary** This role combines **technical expertise, leadership, and strategic involvement** in SAP S/4HANA programs, making it critical for large enterprise clients like Simpson Strong-Tie.
