If you are looking to stretch and grow your career our culture will embrace you. Open up opportunities with HPE. **Job Description:** ## The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, troubleshoot, and enhance software for the **\\*\\*Session Smart Router (SSR)\\*\\*** product line, a key part of HPE Aruba Networking's secure SD-WAN portfolio. This is a senior individual contributor role for an engineer with strong computer science fundamentals, sound software design judgment, and the ability to contribute across a modern networking software stack. The work in this area spans several important product themes, including **\\*\\*Public Cloud\\*\\***, **\\*\\*Analytics\\*\\***, **\\*\\*MIST WAN Assurance\\*\\***, and **\\*\\*L7-Security\\*\\***. We are looking for someone who has built solid production systems, can learn adjacent domains quickly, and can apply senior engineering judgment to solve meaningful customer problems. You will partner with engineers, architects, product managers, and SRE teams across India and global locations to deliver reliable, scalable, and well-tested software. You will be expected to own technical problems end-to-end, contribute to design discussions, and help raise the quality bar for the team. **What you will do:** - Design and implement enhancements, features, and services across the SSR ecosystem, including platform services, cloud-connected capabilities, telemetry, analytics integrations, and security-related functionality. - Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code primarily in **\\*\\*Python\\*\\*** and **\\*\\*Go\\*\\***, while working comfortably in adjacent parts of the stack when needed. - Apply strong software design principles to improve modularity, performance, operability, and long-term maintainability. - Contribute to architecture and design reviews, break down ambiguous requirements, and translate them into pragmatic technical solutions. - Debug complex issues in development and production environments, improve observability, and help ensure reliable operation of the software you build. - Use **\\*\\*AI-assisted development\\*\\*** tools productively in day-to-day engineering work, including coding assistance, test acceleration, and developer productivity workflows. - Work with modern engineering practices including CI/CD, code review, automated testing, infrastructure automation, and DevSecOps. - Collaborate across teams working in areas such as cloud deployment, telemetry and analytics, Mist-driven assurance, and advanced security features. - Mentor less experienced engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and day-to-day collaboration. **What you need to bring:** Education and Experience Required: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. - 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with clear evidence of senior-level ownership and delivery. - Proven experience building, shipping, and supporting production software - Strong hands-on development experience with **\\*\\*Python\\*\\*** and **\\*\\*Go (Golang)\\*\\***. Experience with C/C++ is a plus. - Strong **\\*\\*computer science fundamentals\\*\\***, including data structures, algorithms, concurrency, operating systems, and networking basics. - Experience designing and operating backend software on **\\*\\*Linux\\*\\***, with good instincts for performance, reliability, and debugging. - Familiarity with modern distributed systems and service-based architectures, including APIs, microservices, and asynchronous workflows. - Practical experience with at least one major **\\*\\*public cloud\\*\\*** platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized environments such as Kubernetes. - Experience with modern developer tooling and practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code, and source control workflows. - Exposure to one or more of the following areas is desirable: analytics and telemetry systems, SD-WAN or networking software, public cloud services, or L7-security capabilities.
