Senior Director / Director – Gastroenterology & Hepatology Location: Delhi NCR Experience: Minimum 15 years post-DM/DNB – Gastroenterology Position Level: Director / Senior Director / HOD / Clinical Lead About the Opportunity Fortis healthcare organisation is seeking to appoint an exceptionally accomplished Senior Gastroenterologist to provide clinical and strategic leadership to its Gastroenterology & Hepatology programme in Delhi NCR. This is a senior leadership and practice-building opportunity intended for a gastroenterologist who has developed a strong reputation for clinical excellence, patient care and professional standing and who can help establish the hospital as a preferred destination for complex gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and liver care. The organisation is particularly interested in candidates who have an established clinical practice and strong patient/referral network in Delhi NCR . The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a gastroenterologist who combines: • 15+ years of post-DM/DNB experience • Strong clinical and diagnostic capabilities • Established and respected clinical practice in Delhi NCR • Significant personal patient following and referral network • Experience in managing complex and high-acuity gastroenterology cases • Strong diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy experience • Excellent patient communication and professional reputation • Ability to develop a high-volume and sustainable gastroenterology practice • Leadership experience as Director, HOD, Senior Consultant or equivalent Experience in a leading corporate hospital will be preferred. Key Clinical Responsibilities The incumbent will be responsible for providing comprehensive care across Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and therapeutic endoscopy, including: Gastroenterology • Complex gastrointestinal disorders • GERD and acid-peptic disease • IBS and functional GI disorders • Inflammatory bowel disease • GI bleeding • GI infections and other complex GI conditions • Gastrointestinal oncology and pre-malignant conditions Hepatology • Chronic liver disease • Cirrhosis and its complications • Viral hepatitis • Fatty liver disease • Portal hypertension • Liver failure and related complications Pancreato-Biliary • Pancreatitis • Biliary disorders • Pancreatic disorders • Complex pancreato-biliary disease Advanced Endoscopy Strong expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy will be preferred, including: • Upper GI Endoscopy • Colonoscopy • Polypectomy • Endoscopic haemostasias • Variceal band ligation • ERCP • EUS • PEG and other therapeutic procedures Candidates with advanced ERCP/EUS and interventional endoscopy experience will receive particular consideration. Practice Development & Business Leadership A major component of this role will be to build and expand the Gastroenterology & Hepatology practice . The incumbent will: • Develop a strong Gastroenterology Centre of Excellence. • Build a sustainable high-volume clinical practice. • Leverage existing professional and referral relationships in NCR. • Develop relationships with physicians, surgeons, intensivists and other referring specialists. • Increase patient access to advanced gastroenterology and endoscopy services. • Introduce and develop new clinical programmes and procedures. • Participate in health camps, awareness programmes, CME activities and outreach initiatives. • Establish the hospital as a centre for complex gastroenterology and hepatobiliary care. Clinical Leadership The successful candidate will also be expected to: • Lead and mentor a team of gastroenterologists and junior consultants. • Promote evidence-based clinical practice. • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings and tumour boards. • Ensure appropriate clinical governance and patient-safety standards. • Collaborate with Surgery, Oncology, Radiology, Critical Care, Internal Medicine and other specialties. • Help identify opportunities for new clinical services and technology adoption. Candidate Requirements Mandatory • MBBS • MD/DNB – General Medicine • DM/DNB – Gastroenterology • Minimum 15 years of post-DM/DNB experience • Valid medical registration • Proven independent clinical practice • Strong experience in gastroenterology and hepatology • Strong diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy exposure Strongly Preferred • Currently practicing in Delhi NCR • Established patient following • Strong physician/referral network • Current or previous position as Director / HOD / Senior Consultant / Clinical Lead • Experience with a reputed corporate hospital • Advanced ERCP/EUS/interventional endoscopy skills • Experience in developing a Gastroenterology Centre of Excellence • Academic/research publications and conference participation • Experience in mentoring postgraduate/fellowship programmes Why This Opportunity?
