Position Summary The Senior Engineer II - Design for Safety & Reliability (DfSR) is responsible for integrating safety, reliability, and risk management practices throughout the product development lifecycle of Final Distribution Products. The role ensures products meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, reliability targets, and safety objectives while supporting innovation and business growth. Key Responsibilities Design for Safety & Reliability • Lead Design for Safety (DfS) and Design for Reliability (DfR) activities in product development projects. • Facilitate DFMEA, Application FMEA, DRBFM, hazard analysis, and risk assessments. • Define reliability targets, reliability growth plans, and validation strategies. • Perform reliability analyses including MTTF, MTBF, FIT Rate, Weibull Analysis, FTA, and RBD. • Support safety reviews, design reviews, and product certification activities. • Drive implementation of lessons learned and risk mitigation actions. Product Development Support • Partner with R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Testing Labs, and Regulatory teams. • Review product designs for safety, reliability, thermal performance, dielectric robustness, mechanical endurance, and compliance. • Support qualification, verification, validation, and industrialization activities. • Analyze field failures, warranty claims, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement. Technical Leadership • Mentor engineers on DfSR methodologies and best practices. • Support competency development and deployment of DfSR standards across projects. • Act as a subject matter expert for safety and reliability engineering. Final Distribution Products Expertise Strong technical knowledge and development experience in: • Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB) • Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCB) • RCBOs • Isolators and Switch Disconnectors • Distribution Boards • Surge Protection Devices (SPD) • Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDD) • Contactors and Modular DIN Rail Products Knowledge of: • Overload, Short-Circuit, Earth Leakage, Arc Fault and Surge Protection • Selectivity, Discrimination and Cascading • Breaking Capacity, Current Limitation and I²t Performance • Thermal-Magnetic Tripping Systems • Residual Current Detection Technologies • Contact Systems, Arc Chutes and Operating Mechanisms • Reliability challenges such as contact wear, welding, insulation degradation, thermal aging, corrosion, fatigue, and EMI/EMC effects. Qualifications • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Reliability Engineering. • Minimum 8 years of experience in Product Development, Quality, Reliability, or Safety Engineering. • Minimum 5 years of experience in Final Distribution Products.
