Job description

**Summary** Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, great ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. Our Sales & Ops Engineering team in India is looking for an experienced Sr Engineering Manager to lead within the RAD (Rapid Application Development) Engineering organization. **Description** This critical role requires a blend of strong technical acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving business impact through technology. As a manager of managers, you will oversee multiple engineering teams and their respective managers, leading the design, delivery, and scaling of large, complex business web applications that power Ops functions globally — while building and growing a high-performing engineering organization in India and partnering closely with cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders to drive overall business growth. **Responsibilities** - Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on people development and career growth. - Operate as a manager of managers, leading multiple engineering teams through their respective Engineering Managers/Leads — setting direction, holding managers accountable for delivery and team health, and ensuring consistency in engineering standards and practices across teams. - Coach and develop first-line managers, helping them grow into stronger leaders through regular 1:1s, feedback, delegation, and succession planning. - Own the end-to-end delivery of large-scale, complex business web applications — from architecture and design through development, testing, and production rollout — across multiple concurrent work-streams and teams. - Balance workload, priorities, and resourcing across multiple teams, ensuring the right talent is aligned to the right initiatives at the right time. - Partner with cross-regional and cross-functional teams (Business,UX, QA, Support and Engineering peers across geographies) to align on priorities, dependencies, and delivery timelines. - Build and scale a high-performance engineering organization in India, establishing strong engineering practices, hiring pipelines, and career frameworks that support long-term talent growth across all levels — from individual contributors to managers. - Drive business engagement from India, acting as a trusted technical partner to business stakeholders and representing India engineering's voice in broader organizational strategy and roadmap discussions. - Define and evolve engineering best practices, architectural standards, and delivery frameworks to ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions across all teams under their purview. - Identify and drive adoption of GenAI-powered efficiencies across the software development lifecycle — including code generation, code review assistance, documentation, and test case generation — while establishing strong review checkpoints, validation gates, and quality guardrails to ensure GenAI-assisted output meets the same rigor and reliability bar as traditionally engineered work. - Balance the speed and efficiency gains from GenAI tooling with a disciplined approach to quality assurance, ensuring outcomes remain accurate, secure, maintainable, and free of unintended technical debt. - Manage competing priorities across multiple teams and concurrent projects, balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term technical and organizational health. - Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels — including senior leadership — articulating technical strategy, project status, risks, and trade-offs clearly and confidently. - Identify trends, measure delivery and quality metrics, and drive data-driven decisions to continuously improve team and project outcomes. - Maintain strong attention to detail across strategic planning, people management, and technical execution. **Minimum Qualifications** - 17+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a people/engineering management role, leading teams delivering large, complex business applications. - Proven experience operating as a manager of managers, having directly led other engineering managers/leads and overseen multiple teams simultaneously, with accountability for org-wide delivery and team health. - Demonstrated ability to manage and scale multiple engineering teams in parallel, balancing resourcing, priorities, and delivery timelines across concurrent initiatives. - Proven track record of architecting and delivering large-scale, complex web applications supporting critical business functions (e.g., Sales, Operations, or enterprise business platforms). - Demonstrated experience working across cross-regional and cross-functional teams in a large, global enterprise environment, navigating multiple timezones, geographies, and organizational structures. - Strong experience in business engagement — able to build trusted relationships with business stakeholders from India, influence roadmap and strategy, and represent engineering's perspective in business conversations. - Hands-on background in modern web application development (front-end and back-end), with working knowledge of relevant languages, frameworks, and architectural patterns for scalable enterprise systems. - Practical experience driving GenAI adoption within engineering teams — for example, using GenAI tools to accelerate development, testing, and documentation — paired with a clear framework for validating output quality, mitigating risk, and maintaining engineering standards. - Bachelors / Masters degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from a reputed school **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), micro-services architecture, and CI/CD practices fo
