For more information, visit www.exlservice.com. **Role Overview** We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Java Engineer with 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Kafka, along with hands-on experience in cloud platforms and database technologies. The candidate must have a deep understanding of the projects they have worked on and should be able to clearly explain the architecture, design decisions, technologies used, challenges encountered, and solutions implemented. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot. - Build and maintain Microservices-based architectures for enterprise-grade applications. - Develop and consume RESTful APIs while ensuring security, reliability, and performance. - Implement event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka. - Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software. - Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization activities. - Work with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP for application deployment and maintenance. - Design and optimize database solutions across MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. - Follow engineering best practices, coding standards, and DevOps principles. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers. **Required Skills & Qualifications** - 5+ years of professional experience in software development with Java technologies. - Strong hands-on expertise in: Java, Spring Boot, Microservices Architecture, Apache Kafka - Solid experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs. - Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Strong database experience with: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL - Experience with source control systems such as Git. - Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly. **Nice to Have** - Experience with GraphQL. - Front-end development experience using ReactJS. - Exposure to event-driven and distributed systems architecture. - Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience building and maintaining cloud-native CI/CD pipelines. - Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployment environments. - Understanding of DevOps practices and automation tools. - Experience with distributed tracing, monitoring, and observability frameworks such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar tools. - Exposure to performance tuning and scalability optimization in distributed systems. **What We're Looking For** - Strong ownership mindset and accountability. - Ability to explain previous projects, architecture decisions, and technology implementations in depth. - Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills. - Passion for building scalable, reliable, and high-performance applications. - Proactive approach to learning and adopting new technologies.
