General Summary Job Summary: Join Qualcomm's Embedded Core Platform team and lead the development of foundational firmware enabling SoCs from ROM boot through OS handoff. You will drive architecture, development, integration, and bring-up of secure boot, platform initialization, memory subsystems, storage, and peripheral drivers across next-generation Qualcomm platforms running on Zephyr RTOS / FreeRTOS. The engineer will work on low-level firmware across ARM Cortex-M / RISC-V based SoCs and contribute to production-quality embedded software for power-sensitive and performance-constrained devices. Key Responsibilities - Lead design and development of low-level platform firmware and boot software. - Drive SoC bring-up on emulation, FPGA, simulation, and silicon platforms. - Develop and integrate firmware for DDR, UFS, eMMC, NAND, SPI-NOR, NVMe, USB, PCIe, UART, SPI, and I2C. - Own secure boot, authentication, platform configuration, and execution environment enablement. - Collaborate with hardware, architecture, validation, security, and system teams to resolve complex platform issues. - Lead technical reviews, mentor engineers, and ensure firmware quality, security, and scalability. - Drive issue triage, root-cause analysis, and milestone execution. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field. - 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware or platform software development. - Expert-level C programming and strong debugging skills. - Extensive experience in bootloaders, BSPs, device drivers, and embedded systems. - Strong understanding of ARM architecture and low-level system software. - Proven experience in silicon bring-up, platform initialization, and system debugging. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills. Preferred Skills - Secure Boot, TrustZone, cryptography, and authentication frameworks. - ARM assembly programming. - DDR/LPDDR memory initialization and training. - UEFI/EDK2, U-Boot, TF-A, Coreboot, Zephyr, or FreeRTOS. - Experience with Trace32, Lauterbach, JTAG, and pre-silicon development environments. - Python scripting and automation. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience. 2+ years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
