Specialist - Quality Engineering Job Title Senior Quality Engineer QE Digital Products Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer QE to join the Digital IT organization at Black Veatch This role will support a team or projectsized product area with multiple subsystems by strengthening test planning acceptance criteria BDD practices functional validation and release confidence You will work closely with product owners application engineers business partners and delivery teams to turn requirements into clear test scenarios validate endtoend behavior surface quality risks and support release readiness The role is handson and collaborative with practical exposure to automation CICD feedback and evalbased testing for AIenabled capabilities where applicable The Team This role sits within the DIT Digital Products team which enables Black Veatchs people projects and businesses through modern platforms data analytics and digital products Our teams build and operate software using agile productoriented ways of working with a strong focus on quality security and reliability Key Responsibilities As a Senior QE you will Be responsible for QE planning for a team or projectsized product area providing guidance on test scope risk coverage quality gates and release readiness Partner with product owners business stakeholders and engineers to define testable requirements acceptance criteria and BDD scenarios Perform and coordinate functional integration exploratory regression and APIservice testing across key user journeys and subsystem boundaries Create and maintain test cases BDD scenarios test data needs and traceability across requirements risks defects and release decisions Support AIenabled features by understanding eval concepts collaborating with specialists and incorporating eval outputs into practical quality guidance Identify practical automation opportunities and work with engineers or automation specialists to improve repeatability and reduce regression effort Help triage defects test failures and quality risks communicate impact clearly to support delivery and release decisions This is a handson senior QE role focused on improving requirement clarity guiding BDD and validation practices and helping the team make confident release decisions What Success Looks Like First 612 Months Test planning BDD practices ownership and quality gates are clearer and more consistent within the team or project Requirements acceptance criteria and scenarios are easier for product engineering and QE contributors to understand and validate Regression and release testing are more organized riskbased and repeatable Quality risks and defects are communicated earlier and reflected in release readiness decisions AIenabled features where applicable have practical test coverage and evalrelated signals incorporated into team quality discussions Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience 5 years of experience in software quality engineering QAQE testing businessfacing validation or software delivery with quality ownership Experience being responsible for QE activities for a team project or product area with multiple subsystems or integration points with appropriate autonomy and guidance from management Strong understanding of functional regression exploratory APIservice defect management and release readiness practices Experience creating test plans test cases BDD scenarios acceptance criteria and traceability for modern web applications Familiarity with agile delivery practices issue tracking test management CICD feedback loops and practical automation concepts Ability to collaborate closely with product owners business stakeholders software engineers and delivery teams Familiarity with evals validation approaches or test strategies for AIenabled or LLMbased product capabilities Preferred Qualifications Handson experience with BDD practices Gherkinstyle scenarios or test management tools such as Xray Exposure to LLM evaluation concepts such as curated test datasets rubricbased review or human review workflows Familiarity with Python and test automation frameworks such as Playwright Vitest Jest pytest or similar tools Exposure to performance resiliency or reliability testing
