Job Description To be totally familiar with hotel products, rates, and promotions at all times. • Maintain up to date understanding of company products and rates and involvement in cross selling of these when required including sister properties in local market. • Be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of all competing hotel and restaurant products and provide weekly regular updates after visiting competition hotels allocated for tracking purposes. • Provide ongoing market intelligence by monitoring business sources and segments. • Represent hotel at trade fairs, functions and other related events as directed. • Ensure that sales blitzes in the local city or outstation for the geographic area of responsibility are conducted timely and efficiently. • To ensure a minimum number of in-house guest contacts weekly, as advised. • Network with prospects to uncover other decision makers for direct referrals. • Know competitors top accounts, decision makers, rates and what it will take to move business. • To be aware of the daily/month to date actual and budgeted figures (Room-nights, ARR, APC and Revenues) • Meet or exceed target levels of business (Room-nights, ARR, APC and Revenues) for each section of the market segment of self and team. • Have an understanding of all company/hotel software packages that are integral to the sales department (Holidex, IBP, CPC, and SSRP). • Be accountable for team members / buddies on areas of development and performance. • To be well versed with room as well as function space pricing and pricing strategy. • Be responsible for creating and developing innovating marketing techniques. • Use automated tools to maximize usage and understanding of hotel based electronic systems. Systems include Holidex, IBP program, Opera Property Management Systems, GDS, SSRP etc. • Assist with procurement of special assistance from companies for special occasions i.e. Diwali, staff events etc. • Ensure systematic and time bound contracting with all companies • Administration • To participate in monthly staff meetings and daily follow up action briefings • To formulate and upgrade (minimum once per year) a department operations manual, which is accessible at all times to all staff, • Detailing product specifications, standards of performance, policies and procedures in accordance with company policy. • To monitor on a weekly basis the information, condition with relevance of department o notice boards. • To actively participate in Employee Engagement, Guest Satisfaction, and TQM projects. • Relieve any colleagues or assume “in charge” role of department in absence of Assistant Director of Sales or Director od Sales • Financial o Ensure current knowledge of key hotel and department financial targets • To maintain a working knowledge of key costs associated with securing / maintaining • any particular account or booking o Assist in the preparation of budgets / forecasts / business plans as and when o required • Negotiation Skills • Ability to persuade convinces and influences others. • Ability to CLOSE the sale. • To have patience and take setbacks positively. Able to present information logically and confidently verbally and in written form
