****Company:**** Qualcomm India Private Limited ****Job Area:**** Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Systems Engineering ****General Summary:**** This lead engineering position provides an opportunity to drive 5G/5G-Adv/LTE systems performance characterization/optimization, over the air (OTA) field trials of new features/finetuning, support new technologies discussions/demos spanning NTN, 6G, ISAC among others, and work closely with leading wireless operators, infrastructure vendors and R&D Teams on cutting-edge wireless technologies. Responsibilities also include working with network equipment providers to resolve any inter-operability issues, evaluating system performance including coverage, capacity, and mobility on the OTA network. Additional areas of responsibility include design, optimization, capacity estimation, and management, debugging of air-interface and core-network issues, system parameter recommendations, participating in new technology inter-operability tests and field trials in conjunction with R&D teams, lab performance studies, authoring white-papers and documents on new wireless technologies and standards. The candidate shall have an academic background in digital communications, wireless and computer communication networks. Candidate should also have expertise in machine learning to support extraction of key value from logs/data collected. You will be part or lead the processes from data collection, filtering, and preprocessing, to training the models and deploying them to production and use. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about artificial intelligence and stay up to date with the latest developments in the field. The successful candidate should have the ability to understand detailed technical designs, implementations and issues related to 6G/5G-Adv/5G/LTE technologies. The candidate should be able to provide onsite support to mobile operators worldwide participating in and driving roll out and enhancements of 6G/5G-Adv/5G/LTE networks for optimal system performance and user experience for key/evolving applications. Candidate needs to have excellent communication, presentation, and customer management skills. Candidate needs to have ability to coordinate and work across multiple Qualcomm teams and customers. Also needs to be flexible to travel (up to 30% both domestic and international). ****Minimum Qualifications:**** - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. ****Responsibilities:**** - Lead interactions with wireless Operators to investigate and characterize the performance of 6G/5GAdv/5G/LTE networks in various aspects ranging from satellite networks, core/transport networks, air interface, NTN – TN mobility aspects, to devices and applications. - Lead and contribute to projects in advanced topics such as ISAC, NTN, ORAN/vRAN, private networks, fixed wireless access, small cells etc. - Handling and guiding large performance data analysis for logs/traces collected across key network elements and probes deployed in 6G/5G-Adv/5G/LTE networks. - RF and OTA Parametric Optimization and troubleshooting involving the use of various complex data collection and post-processing tools to assess wireless network performance and propose solutions to problems. - RF Network Planning, including propagation model calibration, link budget definition, network planning tool configuration, coverage and capacity planning and network growth dimensioning. - Use handset and network infrastructure based advanced tools to accurately measure existing and potential network performance. - Use in-house simulation platforms written in C/C++/MATLAB with live network traffic data and develop solutions to improve network performance & efficiency. - Support development of forward-looking solutions to address network operator growth and expansion plans covering all network entities including 6G/ISAC/NTN trials, fine-tuning features, rollout, and commercialization. - Develop white papers, conference contributions, technical memos, new technology training documents, and detailed technical presentations – Focused on wireless system performance, network parameter optimization, new wireless technology standards, or analysis of wireless network/device issues. - Ability to present complex technical ideas and results to multi-level, multi-disciplinary internal and external audiences. - Use data analytics and machine learning techniques for new services enhancement and development – focus area: 6G/5G-Adv/5G/LTE/Wi-Fi 8 communication networks. - Identifying and understanding the objectives, followed by selection and model development that helps to achieve them, along with the metrics to track their progress. - Verifying data quality, and/or ensuring it via data cleaning - Training models, analyzing the errors of the model, and designing strategies to overcome them - Cloud ML model architecture ****Wireless Networks/Technology Skills:**** - In depth understanding and hands-on experience on Cellular (5G NR, 5G-Adv, and LTE) PHY/MAC and upper layers. - Deep expertise of 5G and LTE Networks’ performance assessment & optimization on major RAN infra-vendors - Excellent knowledge of 3GPP protocol standards, design, development, integration and verification, call processing of cellular
