As part of the ECS Technology team, you will collaborate with delivery teams including Product Owners, Engineering Managers, Engineers, Designers, and Quality Assurance specialists. You will provide senior technical leadership across teams, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and cloud-native solutions aligned with Experian standards and platform strategy. You will operate as a technical authority across your domain, guiding architectural decisions, driving measurable technical improvements, and coaching engineers to on quality, innovation, and performance. Role Overview We are looking for a experienced and influential Staff Engineer to provide technical leadership across one or more engineering domains. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on, architectural oversight, compliance, innovation, and capability development. You will be a role model across teams, mentoring engineers, driving measurable improvements, and ensuring our domain remains secure, and aligned with Experian policies. You will balance customer needs, user experience, delivery timelines, and long-term technical health while guiding teams through change and ambiguity. Responsibilities • Lead and measurable technical improvement and new ideas across the ECS Tech platform and your domain. • Ensure services are compliant with Experian standards, security policies, and governance requirements. • Support teams in building plans to bring systems back into policy where required. • Be an technical authority in architectural discussions, refinement sessions, code reviews, and documentation standards. • Coach engineers across multiple teams, delivering tangible improvements in skills and technical capability. • Partner with Engineering Managers to identify knowledge and performance gaps and support development plans to address them. • Guide the adoption use of technical metrics to identify risks, improve performance, and increase engineering quality. • Guide teams in, navigating change, and delivering during business transformation plans. • Collaborate with senior partners to define and refine technical roadmaps in consideration of the financial year and broader ECS strategy. • Encourage smart risk-taking, experimentation, and continuous improvement. • Promote cross-domain collaboration to ensure solutions meet customer and our needs. • Stay informed on new industry trends and the wider Experian technical horizon, sharing insights within your domain. • Be role model for communication, and across all levels of the organization. • 14+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or SDET roles within enterprise environments. • Experience driving architectural design and technical strategy across multiple teams or domains. • Background in secure software development and enterprise compliance standards. • Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS and Azure) and microservices-based systems. • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and reliability engineering. • Experience using technical metrics (e.g., DORA metrics, reliability metrics, quality indicators) to lead measurable improvements. • Expertise in modern engineering stacks such as .NET Core, Node.js, React, and cloud services including AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS) or Azure equivalents. • Experience influencing engineering standards across distributed teams. • Develop senior engineers and technical leads. • Experience with security, resilience, scalability, and performance best practices.
