Senior Test Engineer - API Testing

**Role & responsibilities:** : **Level 3: 6-8 Years** Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Senior API Test Engineer with 68 years of experience in API testing, automation, and quality engineering. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in REST/SOAP API testing, automation frameworks, microservices validation, CI/CD integration, and performance testing. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, security, and scalability of APIs across enterprise applications. Key Responsibilities API Testing & Validation - Design, develop, and execute API test cases for RESTful and SOAP web services. - Validate request/response structures, status codes, headers, payloads, and business rules. - Perform functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and system testing. - Verify API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications. - Test microservices communication and distributed systems. Test Automation - Develop and maintain API automation frameworks using Java, Python, or JavaScript. - Automate API test suites using tools such as: - Rest Assured - Postman/Newman - Karate Framework - ReadyAPI/SoapUI - PyTest - Create reusable automation components and utilities. - Integrate automated API tests into CI/CD pipelines. Database Validation - Validate backend data using SQL queries. - Perform data integrity and data reconciliation testing. - Verify API interactions with relational and NoSQL databases. Performance & Reliability Testing - Conduct API performance testing using: - JMeter - LoadRunner - k6 - Gatling - Analyze throughput, latency, response time, and scalability metrics. - Identify bottlenecks and recommend performance improvements. Security Testing - Validate authentication and authorization mechanisms: - OAuth 2.0 - JWT - API Keys - SAML - Perform security validation for common vulnerabilities: - Injection attacks - Broken authentication - Data exposure - Authorization issues Defect Management - Identify, document, and track defects using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools. - Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot issues. - Perform root cause analysis and verify fixes. CI/CD & DevOps Integration - Integrate automated API tests into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps pipelines. - Support continuous testing initiatives. - Generate automated test execution reports. Collaboration - Work closely with Developers, Architects, Product Owners, and Business Analysts. - Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
