**Business Overview** Prime – a suite of services for investment banks and large financial institutions that support hedge‑fund‑type clients in securities‑ and cash‑borrowing, netting, margin financing, and trade processing. Core applications include Cash PB (equities), Synthetics PB (swaps), Trade Processing, Financing, and Margin. The PB Portal provides a common web‑based UI framework for these applications. **Position purpose:** The ideal candidate will be responsible for Java development with expertise in event‑driven, low‑latency, high‑throughput systems; expected to design solutions, mentor junior team members, control technical debt and maintain a robust DevOps environment. **Job Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, support, enhance, and bug‑fix Java‑based solutions while mentoring junior developers. - Possess a strong, end‑to‑end understanding of the application’s business functionality and translate that knowledge into effective technical implementations. - Keep the Project Manager informed of status, proactively flag and escalate issues to local management, and recommend actionable solutions. - Ensure all work adheres to project and organizational standards across the full software‑development lifecycle, from requirements through delivery. - Own and keep up‑to‑date the key artefacts that support development work, including Jira task tracking and Wiki documentation. - Consistently meet agreed‑upon delivery deadlines and milestone dates. - Design solutions that respect the platform’s architectural and infrastructure constraints, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. - Propose technical approaches, conduct impact analyses, and provide accurate effort estimates for assigned work. - Prioritize code quality, defect reduction, performance optimisation, and thorough testing throughout development. - Collaborate with production release and support teams to ensure smooth deployment, stable operations, and effective post‑release support of the applications under your ownership. **Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:** - 7+ years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related field. - Strong core Java 11 development, including Spring / Spring‑Boot, Hibernate and SQL. - Front‑end expertise with Angular (or comparable framework). - Hands‑on experience with DevOps toolchains (Jenkins, Sonar, BitBucket, Rundeck). - Proficient in SQL/PL‑SQL (Oracle) and writing performant stored procedures. - Solid unit‑testing background (JUnit, mocking frameworks) and TDD practice. - Deep understanding of design patterns, DDD, API‑first and data‑driven design. - Experience building event‑driven, Kafka‑based (or Apache Camel) architectures. - Ability to develop full‑stack, event‑driven solutions and tune performance (Dynatrace, JVM/SQL tuning). - Apply data‑security protocols and controls throughout the SDLC. - Work in Agile Scrum teams and produce high‑quality, maintainable code (peer reviews, TDD). **Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills:** - Proactive problem‑solving and solution‑oriented mindset - Understanding of Prime‑line business processes (securities lending, margin financing, trade allocation) is a plus. **Company Profile:** BNP Paribas – EU‑leading bank with a global footprint; BNP Paribas India Solutions is the 24 × 7 delivery subsidiary serving Corporate & Institutional Banking, Investment Solutions and Retail Banking.
