Visit our website to learn more!   Role summary:   This opening is for Lead System Engineer and Engineering PM role within International Systems Engineering Organization in Wabtec India Technology & Engineering Center, VKTP, Bangalore. The purpose of this role is to lead all the system engineering activities related to the customer requirements, subsystem and system development, and delivery of new locomotives to international customers. This role includes customer interface, program management, requirement management, monitoring subsystem development, systems integration, build support, systems validation, in country validation, commissioning and launch support. This role has the responsibility to work collaboratively and strategically with diverse stakeholders to deliver best in class product configuration meeting business objectives and customer requirement. This role is also responsible for shaping the product considering reuse, leveraging standardization, modularization in consultation with product management and other cross functions.   Essential Functions (Responsibilities):   Systems Engineering ownership & responsibility to execute & deliver locomotive products for international customers meeting cost, quality and schedule. Consolidation of product and program requirements with multiple stakeholders. Understand product requirements, operating environment, and regulations; Evaluate impact of requirements on engineering development schedule, cost, and lead trade-off studies! Flow down requirements from product description (PD) & line by line response (LBL) into system functional specification (SFS) to define performance, reliability, cost, weight and other targets; and to further assign the requirements to respective subsystem design areas! Develop platforming approach, standardization to drive business growth. Load approved budget and track the overall performance of engineering team to adhere to the budget. Interface with Program Management Office, Supply Chain and develop integrated schedule. Create Area Review Plans with the Chief Engineers Office and track design reviews to close. Define Bill of materials (BOM) structure, track specifications and drawing release plan. Run core team meetings to ensure on time execution of project. Communicate project status, schedules, upcoming deliverables, risks, issues, and technical solutions between various stakeholders. Method of communications to include, but not limited to, design reviews, operational reviews, and team meetings. Configuration management of software options specific to customer application Identify detailed validation requirements, drill down for subsystems, planning and execution. Support Prototype locomotive build and manage product changes till customer acceptance. Lead Engineering validation, customer demonstration test at build locations, conduct trials on customer track, commissioning & customer documentation. Travel to factory’s & customer sites to build support / perform locomotive validation for extended periods. Document technical data generated by the assigned project per engineering policies and procedures. Embrace culture of Collaboration, Innovation, Customer Centricity, Safety, Compliance, Cost & Schedule Partner with cross functional team in driving customer discovery session to incorporate learning from past projects, field & operational experience in country. Partner with cross functional team in driving post project evaluation to document project learning to be used in future programs. Support sourcing, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams throughout the product life cycle. Mentor engineers to develop design that meets platforming & standardization requirements as well as improve cost margin and reliability.   Basic Requirement & Qualifications   Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical, Electronics (or) Controls Engineering from a university of repute Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience preferably in locomotive domain or similar industry Minimum of 5 years’ design experience in relevant specialization. Strong understanding & knowledge of Requirements Management, DFMEA, Design to Cost, Bill of Material Structure, Standardization, Verification, Validation, Technical Publication, and defect report
