Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Design Engineer/Technical Lead to drive the design and development of innovative automotive interior systems. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences within vehicle interiors. Responsibilities - Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of complex automotive interior components and systems, including Instrument Panels, Consoles, Door Trims, Seating, Headliners, and Pillars. - Generate detailed CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using advanced CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6. - Drive the design process from initial concept through to production release, ensuring all design deliverables meet program timelines and quality standards. - Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies, packaging analysis, and clearance checks for interior components, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. - Ensure manufacturing feasibility, assembly efficiency, and serviceability of all designed interior parts, applying DFM/DFA principles. - Act as a technical lead, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior engineers on design methodologies and best practices. - Collaborate closely with styling, packaging, CAE, manufacturing, and supplier teams to integrate design requirements and resolve technical challenges. - Participate actively in design reviews, present design solutions, and incorporate feedback to refine interior component designs. - Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company-specific design guidelines. - Identify and implement innovative design solutions to enhance product performance, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness. Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field. - 3-10 years of progressive experience in automotive interior design and development. - Expert proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6, including advanced surfacing and solid modeling capabilities. - Strong understanding of automotive interior systems, materials, and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, thermoforming, stitching, foaming). - Demonstrated experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. - Proficient knowledge of GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis. - Proven ability to lead design projects, manage technical challenges, and mentor junior team members. - Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, both written and verbal. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
