**Position: Supplier Quality Engineer** **Location: Mysuru** **Job Overview** The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) Mechanical is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of mechanical components and systems sourced from external suppliers. This role focuses on supplier evaluation, quality assurance, and performance monitoring to ensure adherence to defined specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements. The SQE collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including Sourcing, SCM, and Engineering, to drive supplier quality improvements, mitigate risks, and strengthen overall supply chain performance **Key Responsibilities** **1. Supplier Assessment & Qualification** - Evaluate and qualify potential suppliers to ensure alignment with quality standards and business requirements - Partner with Sourcing and Engineering teams to define supplier selection and approval criteria - Support supplier onboarding and part qualification processes **2. Quality Planning** - Develop and implement quality plans for mechanical components, including inspection criteria, testing methods, and control plans - Establish clear quality expectations, KPIs, and acceptance standards with suppliers **3. Supplier Audits & Compliance** - Conduct regular on-site and remote supplier audits to assess QMS, processes, and compliance - Ensure adherence to standards such as AS9100 and customer-specific requirements - Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) based on audit findings **4. Incoming Quality & Issue Resolution** - Define and implement incoming inspection standards and protocols - Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for supplier-related quality issues - Coordinate with suppliers for timely resolution of non-conformances **5. Continuous Improvement** - Drive supplier development initiatives focused on quality, cost, and delivery improvements - Monitor supplier performance metrics (PPM, defects, audit scores) and implement improvement plans - Promote Lean, Six Sigma, and best practices across the supplier base **6. Cross-functional Collaboration** - Work closely with Sourcing, SCM, Engineering, and Production teams to align on quality expectations - Act as the primary interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders for quality-related matters - Provide technical guidance to suppliers on quality requirements and improvements **7. Risk Management** - Identify and assess supply chain risks related to mechanical components - Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans for critical suppliers and parts **8. Documentation & Reporting** - Maintain accurate records of supplier audits, quality performance, and corrective actions - Track day-to-day supplier quality issues, closures, and performance trends - Manage supplier rejections, MRB, and blocked stock in coordination with SCM teams - Generate periodic reports on supplier quality KPIs and performance **Qualifications & Experience** - Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field - Proven experience in Supplier Quality Engineering within the mechanical domain - Strong knowledge of mechanical components, manufacturing processes, and special processes - Experience with AS9100 and Aerospace & Defense customer requirements - Hands-on experience in FAI (AS9102), root cause analysis, and 8D problem-solving - Experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) is an added advantage - Willingness to travel for supplier audits and site visits. **Skills & Competencies** - Strong understanding of quality tools: FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP, APQP, CpK - Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP) and quality management systems - Knowledge of metal and plastic manufacturing processes, materials, and finishes - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills - Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities - Ability to coordinate effectively with IQC and cross-functional teams - close attention to detail with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
