About the Role As Team Leader - Power BI you will lead a small, high-performing analytics team responsible for designing, developing and delivering business intelligence solutions across the organisation. The role combines hands-on Power BI development with people leadership, stakeholder management and continuous improvement to ensure timely, accurate and impactful reporting that drives informed decision‑making. Key Responsibilities • Team Leadership & Delivery • Lead, coach and develop a team of Power BI developers and analysts, setting clear objectives and supporting professional growth. • Plan and prioritise team workload to meet delivery milestones and business needs. • Ensure high quality, maintainable and well-documented Power BI reports and data models. • Power BI Development & Architecture • Design and implement scalable Power BI solutions including data modelling, DAX calculations, report visualisation and performance optimisation. • Define and maintain standards, templates and reusable components for report development and data modelling. • Work with data engineering to define data requirements, ETL strategy and data quality checks to support BI solutions. • Stakeholder Engagement • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical designs and ensure delivered solutions meet user needs. • Present insights and visualisations to non-technical audiences; advise on best practice for self-service analytics and adoption. • Governance, Security & CI/CD • Implement and enforce BI governance practices including workspace organisation, version control, access management and data security. • Support automation of deployment pipelines and testing to enable repeatable, low-risk releases to production. • Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement • Monitor report performance and usage metrics; drive optimisation and rationalisation where appropriate. • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance reporting, reduce manual effort and increase business value. Performance Deliverables • Timely delivery of reliable Power BI reports and dashboards that meet stakeholder requirements. • High team engagement and demonstrable development of team members' skills. • Adherence to BI governance, security and deployment standards across all solutions. • Measurable improvements in report performance, data quality and user adoption. Requirements Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Experience • Typically 7+ years’ experience building Power BI solutions and 1–2 years in a leading role or with responsibility for mentoring colleagues. • Proven experience working with SQL and data modelling in a production environment. Functional Skills • Strong proficiency with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX and Power Query (M). • Experience with data warehouses, star schema design and ETL processes. • Familiarity with Azure data services (ADF, Synapse) or other cloud data platforms is desirable. • Knowledge of report performance tuning, incremental refresh and security roles. Behavioural Skills • Demonstrable leadership and coaching skills with a collaborative approach. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate technical detail for business audiences. • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a focus on delivering value. Languages • English (required).
