**Job Description (JD): Engineering Manager (Software) – Aditya Birla Health Insurance** **Company:** Aditya Birla Health Insurance (ABHI), Aditya Birla Group (ABG) **Role:** Engineering Manager – Software Engineering **Job Band:** Band 9 **Location:** Thane / Mumbai **Reporting To:** Head of Engineering **Employment Type:** Full-time **Role Summary** The Engineering Manager will lead engineering teams delivering business-critical platforms for Aditya Birla Health Insurance. This role owns **tech solutioning, system performance, and end-to-end technology delivery** , with a strong foundation in **ASP.NET** and **MS SQL** , and proven capability in **team and stakeholder management** . **Mandatory Prerequisites** - 10+ years of experience in the software domain (mandatory). - Strong hands-on and delivery experience in ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL). - Prior experience leading teams and owning end-to-end delivery of enterprise applications. **Key Responsibilities (aligned To KPIs)** - Tech Solutioning (KPI) - Lead technical solutioning for new initiatives and enhancements across core insurance systems and digital journeys. - Drive architecture/design decisions ensuring scalability, security, auditability, and maintainability. - Review solution designs and code quality; enforce engineering standards, best practices, and governance. - Partner with Product, Business, Security, Architecture, and Operations to align technology solutions to business goals. - System Performance (KPI) - Own system performance, reliability, and resilience across application and database layers. - Lead performance tuning and optimization of MS SQL (query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plans). - Drive monitoring, incident management, RCA, and preventive action planning to reduce recurring issues. - Establish performance SLAs/SLOs and ensure readiness for peak loads and business-critical events. - End-to-End Tech Delivery (KPI) - Own delivery from requirement elaboration through design, development, testing, release, and post-release stabilization. - Drive estimation, sprint planning, execution tracking, and dependency management across teams. - Ensure adherence to SDLC, change management, security/compliance requirements applicable to BFSI/Insurance. - Coordinate with QA, DevOps, Security, Infra, and vendor partners for smooth releases and operational excellence. **Technical Skills** - ASP.NET (web applications / APIs), enterprise application development. - MS SQL Server: data modeling, stored procedures, performance tuning, indexing, optimization. - Azure services including Queue management and cache management - Strong understanding of integration patterns, application security basics, and production troubleshooting. - Exposure to CI/CD, automated testing, and modern delivery practices is preferred. **Soft Skills (Mandatory)** - Team management: coaching/mentoring, performance management, building high-performing teams, hiring support. - Stakeholder management: clear communication, expectation management, negotiation, and cross-functional alignment. - Strong ownership, decision-making, and ability to handle ambiguity in fast-paced environments. **Preferred Domain Experience** - Health Insurance domain experience preferred with a Broader BFSI experience. - Health & Wellness domain is a strong advantage. - Familiarity with compliance, audits, and regulated environments is desirable. **Key KPIs / Success Metrics** - Tech Solutioning: quality of designs, reduction in rework, scalability/security alignment, architectural improvements. - System Performance: uptime/availability, performance improvement, incident reduction, RCA closure effectiveness. - End-to-End Delivery: on-time releases, predictable delivery, reduced defect leakage, improved release quality/stability.
