Role Summary An experienced 5G Packet Core Development Lead to lead the design and development of next-generation cloud-native 5G Core network functions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in 5G Packet Core architecture, microservices-based software development, cloud-native technologies, and distributed systems. The role involves leading a team of software engineers in delivering scalable, high-performance, carrier-grade network functions while driving engineering excellence and innovation. The successful candidate will combine deep telecom domain expertise with modern cloud-native software engineering practices, enabling the development of scalable, resilient, and high-performance 5G Packet Core solutions while providing strong technical leadership to engineering teams. Key Responsibilities • Lead the architecture, design, and development of cloud-native 5G Packet Core network functions. • Drive end-to-end software development using microservices architecture and modern software engineering practices. • Lead technical discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and architecture decisions. • Collaborate with system architects, product management, QA, DevOps, and integration teams to deliver high-quality releases. • Design highly scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant distributed systems. • Optimize packet processing performance, latency, and resource utilization. • Ensure compliance with 3GPP standards and interoperability requirements. • Drive CI/CD adoption, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices. • Participate in customer issue analysis, performance optimization, and production support. • Own feature delivery, technical planning, effort estimation, and release execution. Job Requirements Required Technical Skills • 5G Packet Core• Strong understanding of 5G Core architecture. • Hands-on experience with one or more core network functions such as: • Good understanding of Service-Based Architecture (SBA). • Strong knowledge of 3GPP specifications and interfaces. • Experience with HTTP/2, REST APIs, TLS, Diameter, and SCTP. • Knowledge of QoS, mobility management, session management, charging, and policy control. • Software Development• Strong proficiency in C++, Go, and Python. • Expertise in microservices architecture and distributed systems. • Experience developing REST/gRPC APIs. • Strong object-oriented design and design patterns. • Multithreading, asynchronous programming, concurrency, and performance optimization. • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills. • Linux systems programming. • Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6, and packet processing. • Strong experience in cloud-native and microservices-based application development. • Experience working with Kubernetes-based deployments in production environments. • Cloud Native Technologies• Docker • Kubernetes • Helm • Service Mesh (Istio or Linkerd) • Cloud-native application development • Container orchestration • Horizontal scaling and resiliency patterns • DevOps• Git • Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI • CI/CD pipelines • Kubernetes deployment automation • Monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana • Logging using ELK/OpenSearch • Leadership Requirements• Lead a team of software engineers in an Agile environment. • Mentor engineers and support career development. • Coordinate cross-functional development activities. • Manage feature planning, risk mitigation, and execution. • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, customers, and senior leadership. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field. • 8+ years of software development experience. • 5+ years of experience in 4G/5G Packet Core development.
