Open up opportunities with HPE. **Job Description** **Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated technical writer to join our Technical Publications team. In this role, you will create, manage, and maintain high-quality technical documentation that enables customers, partners, and internal teams to effectively use and understand HPE Networking products and solutions. You will work closely with engineering, product management, and other cross-functional teams to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content that aligns with our commitment to innovation and customer success. **Key Responsibilities** **What you will do** : - Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user guides, release notes, configuration manuals, deployment guides, hardware installation guides, hardware reference documentation, and platform-specific quick start guides. - Create and maintain documentation for networking hardware products, including physical specifications, port configurations, LED indicator references, mounting instructions, cabling guidelines, and hardware troubleshooting procedures. - Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and engineers to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of content. - Translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language that is accessible to a range of audiences, including IT professionals and non-technical users. - Develop and edit high-quality hardware content using MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, and Adobe InDesign. - Develop and edit high-quality hardware diagrams, product illustrations, and visual assets using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to enhance documentation clarity and usability. - Manage documentation projects, including planning, content development, reviews, and publishing, while adhering to deadlines and quality standards. - Stay up to date on HPE Networking products, hardware platforms, and technologies to ensure documentation is accurate. - Partner with other writers and SMEs to share context, align on standards, and keep content consistent across deliverables. **Workflow Clarity (How Work Comes In And Gets Published)** - Work intake will be driven by product feature changes, bug fixes, and documentation gaps identified through the Ask AI chatbot (plus input from Engineering, Product Management, Support, and other stakeholders). - You will triage requests, confirm the source of truth (for example: requirements, design docs, tickets, release notes, hardware specifications, or SME confirmation), and propose the doc update approach (what to change, where, and why). - You will draft and edit updates in Markdown in a Git-based workflow (branch/PR), coordinate reviews with SMEs, and iterate quickly based on feedback. - You will validate changes for accuracy and completeness, follow established style/standards, and ensure updates are ready for publish in a continuous/rapid release environment. - For Ask AI–identified gaps, you will verify the gap, update the underlying documentation, and (when applicable) confirm that the chatbot experience improves after publication. **Qualifications** **What you will bring :** - Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a technical writer, with demonstrated expertise in the networking, IT, or technology industry. - Proven experience documenting networking hardware products, including switches, routers, access points, gateways, controllers, or similar infrastructure equipment. Familiarity with hardware specifications, physical installation procedures, and platform lifecycle documentation is required. - Proven ability to write for technical audiences, such as network engineers, system administrators, and software developers. - Strong understanding of Docs-as-Code principles; proficiency writing in Markdown. - Experience with documentation authoring tools (for example, Oxygen XML Author, MadCap Flare, or similar). - Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker for structured and long-form technical document authoring and production. - Proficiency with Adobe InDesign for creating polished, layout-intensive documentation such as quick start guides, and print-ready hardware documentation. - Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator for editing, annotating, and optimizing product images, hardware photographs, screenshots, and technical illustrations for use in documentation. - Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop is a nice to have but not required. - Experience with Git-based version control. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) is a plus. - Familiarity with static site generators (for example, Jekyll or similar). - Exceptional collaboration skills.and a keen eye for detail. - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. - Familiar with Agile development methodologies and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams. - Self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality docume
