Required Skills & Experience - Mature, hands-on programming skills in JavaScript (Node.js) and TypeScript - Strong grasp of software design patterns, distributed systems, and microservices architecture - Proven experience architecting scalable, resilient, high-performance systems - Deep understanding of secure programming practices and common vulnerability classes - Experience with data-intensive systems: databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, message queues, streaming (Kafka, etc.) - Strong code review skills with a track record of mentoring engineering teams - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) - Solid understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), event-driven architecture, and integration patterns Key Responsibilities Solution Architecture & Design - Design scalable, resilient, and high-performing architectures for complex, data-intensive systems - Define architectural patterns, standards, and best practices across the technology stack - Evaluate trade-offs between performance, scalability, cost, and maintainability - Produce architecture diagrams, technical design documents, and decision records Hands-On Engineering - Write production-quality code (primarily JavaScript/TypeScript) to prototype, validate, and guide implementation - Contribute to critical or complex modules alongside development teams - Stay current with modern programming paradigms, frameworks, and tooling Code Quality & Review - Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to design principles, performance standards, and maintainability - Establish coding standards, style guides, and review checklists - Mentor engineers on clean code, design patterns, and architectural thinking Secure Programming Practices - Embed secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10, input validation, authentication/authorization, encryption) into the SDLC - Conduct or coordinate security reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments - Ensure compliance with relevant security and data protection standards Performance & Scalability - Architect solutions for high-throughput, low-latency, data-intensive workloads - Design for horizontal scalability, fault tolerance, and resilience (caching, queuing, sharding, load balancing) - Conduct performance testing, profiling, and capacity planning Data-Intensive Systems - Design data pipelines, storage strategies, and processing architectures (batch and real-time) - Work with SQL/NoSQL databases, streaming platforms, and distributed data systems - Ensure data consistency, integrity, and availability at scale Collaboration & Leadership - Partner with product managers, engineering leads, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions - Guide multiple engineering teams on architectural alignment - Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend adoption where relevant We are dedicated to fostering a collaborative, engaging, and inclusive environment and are committed to providing a workplace that empowers associates to be authentic and bring their best to work.
