**Junior Usability Designer:** As we are aware of the impact we have on peoples lives through the products and medical devices we make. We are on a continuous journey to come up with the best possible solutions for both medical staff and patients. We want our solutions to be intuitive and seamless so we can deliver the best patient safety and user experience. **Role summary:** **The usability designer acts as** **an independent contributor to the usability team, to ensure that products we develop in Philips are safe, effective, efficient, intuitive, and satisfactory to use, and advocates for user needs and patient safety in the business and the project team.** **The usability designer executes the usability activities in the development project, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, which includes UI/UX designers, product designers, clinical specialists, product managers, researchers, developers, and system engineers.** **Those activities include:** - Conduct user research, task analysis and create use scenarios. - Analyze post-market data and identify usability issues. - Conduct Usability **FMEA**. - Support the development of user-centered and safe-to-use UI and UX solutions. - Plan, execute and report usability evaluations and ensure critical findings are fixed. - *For medical devices projects*: conduct summative evaluation and create the usability engineering file, in compliance with the **FDA** guidance and **IEC62366-1**. **Hiring requirements:** **Academic background:** Degree in human factors engineering, HCI, cognitive science, product/interaction/user experience design or other relevant academic background. **Proven experience and knowledge:** 1. 5-6 years of experience of usability engineering of development projects, medical devices preferred. 2. Good understanding and experience with usability testing methods. 3. Good understanding of cognitive ergonomics principles. 4. Preferred: Understanding of regulation requirements for usability of medical devices: FDA guidance and IEC62366-1. 5. Preferred: Good understanding of the healthcare domain and clinical workflow e.g. in hospitals. 6. Preferred: experience in working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and in a complex global company. **Skills:** 1. Independent and pro-active. 2. Good communication and presentation skills. 3. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals and stakeholders, from around the globe. 4. Ability to write high quality formal documentation. 5. Excellent English, written and verbal.
