**Job Title:** ASP VB script Developer **Department**: BNP Paribas Fortis, CBPS **About Business line/Function:** BNP Paribas Fortis is one of the largest payment processors in Europe. New and existing IT technologies are being developed and maintained for different tribes in Brussels following the agile methodology.  Our teams work in multi-cultural and empowered squads who deliver new functionalities and enhancements on a frequent basis. The mission of the Tribe TCF is to grow as a reliable and cost-efficient  service provider for customers of BNP Paribas Group worldwide, whilst implementing innovative technologies and transversal products. **Position Purpose:** In this role you will be part of an international, multi-functional squad with colleagues in Chennai and Belgium.  The squad is responsible for the development and maintenance of a key application of BNP Paribas Group.  It works in an agile mode with daily huddles and frequent production releases, whilst maintaining high quality standards. The squad is part of Tribe TCF with its main management in Belgium at BNP Paribas Fortis, a sister company of ISPL **Responsibilities** Direct Responsibilities - Analyze existing ASP/VBScript codebase to document business logic, dependencies, and technical debt. - You help the Chapter Lead in defining the conversion strategy / industrialization roadmap and provide robust and reliable estimation for work packages to develop (cost, schedule) and assessment of technical risks - You participate in higher-level testing (integration, verification, validation) - • Ability to translate ASP rendering to React client-side rendering. • Testing: frontend validation. You actively help the Chapter Lead in defining the technological and organizational orientations for the department, and play a key role in the technology watch process (identify, evaluate and recommend new technologies/processes/tools - You will be working on converting legacy ASP .NET to JAVA with an aim of deploying on the  cloud Contributing Responsibilities As developer in a squad: - You want to get involved in a project strongly oriented towards collaboration, self-management and use of AI - You will be able to work autonomously - You have experience in most of the following technical areas: - • ASP/VBScript  • Design a migration plan from monolithic ASP to React.js + Java (Spring Boot). • Develop React components to replace classic ASP pages and Java APIs to replace server-side VBScript. • Refactor database interactions from ADO/VBScript to JPA/Spring Data. • Test thoroughly (unit, integration, E2E) to ensure parity with legacy behavior. **Technical & Behavioral Competencies** - • ASP/VBScript  • Design a migration plan from monolithic ASP to React.js + Java (Spring Boot). • Develop React components to replace classic ASP pages and Java APIs to replace server-side VBScript. • Refactor database interactions from ADO/VBScript to JPA/Spring Data. **•** **Test thoroughly (unit, integration, E2E) to ensure parity with legacy behavior.** **Knowledge in the following technologies is a plus:** - Good React.js experience (functional components, hooks, state management with Redux/Context API). - Experience with modern JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript (preferred for type safety). - Knowledge of React ecosystem (React Router, Axios/Fetch for API calls, Formik for forms). - Ability to translate ASP classic server-side rendering to Reacts client-side rendering. - Familiarity with UI libraries (Material-UI, Ant Design, or custom components). - Testing: Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress for frontend validation. - **Specific Qualifications:** - You have a bachelor or master degree in IT and at least 8 years of experience - Fluent English is mandatory (oral and written) **Skills Referential** **(Required knowledge, skills and abilities)** **Technical Skills:** - • ASP/VBScript • Design a migration plan from monolithic ASP to React.js + Java (Spring Boot). • Develop React components to replace classic ASP pages and Java APIs to replace server-side VBScript. • Refactor database interactions from ADO/VBScript to JPA/Spring Data. **•** **Test thoroughly (unit, integration, E2E) to ensure parity with legacy behavior.** **Knowledge in the following technologies is a plus:** - Good React.js experience (functional components, hooks, state management with Redux/Context API). - Experience with modern JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript (preferred for type safety). - Knowledge of React ecosystem (React Router, Axios/Fetch for API calls, Formik for forms). - Ability to translate ASP classic server-side rendering to React’s client-side rendering. - Familiarity with UI libraries (Material-UI, Ant Design, or custom components). - Testing: Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress for frontend validation. - Agile and Scrum experience **Behavioral Skills:** - Team player who promotes communication between internal and external stakeholders - Result oriented: adapts to the context and wants to obtain the best possible result considering available means. - Act and analyze proactively. - Pragmatic and problem solver. - Quick self-starter, pro-active attitude, self-motivated. - Ability to work in a dynamic and multi-cultural environment. - Ability to build working relationships in a complex environment. - Ability to manage stakeholders. - Asking and giving feedback **Education Level:** Bachelor Degree or equivalent **Location:** Chennai **About BNP Paribas Group:** BNP Paribas is the European Union’s leading bank and key player in international banking.
