VMware Administrator Job Description (JD) **Job Title:** VMware Administrator / VMware Engineer **Experience:** 4–10+ Years **Location:** PAN India / Chennai / Bangalore (as applicable) **Job Summary** We are looking for an experienced VMware Administrator to design, deploy, manage, and optimize enterprise virtualization infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, virtualization technologies, storage, networking, and disaster recovery solutions. **Key Responsibilities** - Install, configure, and administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments. - Manage virtual machines, clusters, resource pools, datastores, and templates. - Configure and maintain HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, and Fault Tolerance. - Perform VMware upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and capacity planning. - Monitor infrastructure performance and troubleshoot VMware, storage, and networking issues. - Manage SAN, NAS, and vSAN storage integration. - Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions. - Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerCLI, PowerShell, or scripting. - Work with Windows/Linux server teams and infrastructure teams for issue resolution. - Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks. **Required Skills** - VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server - VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion - vSAN, SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS - VMware Cluster Management - PowerCLI / PowerShell scripting - Windows Server & Linux Administration - Virtual Networking (vSwitch, Distributed Switch, VLAN) - Backup & Disaster Recovery - Performance Monitoring & Capacity Planning - Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis **Good to Have** - VMware NSX - VMware SRM (Site Recovery Manager) - VMware Aria Operations (vRealize Operations) - VMware Horizon (VDI) - Ansible, Terraform - AWS/Azure virtualization experience - VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation) **Qualifications** - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. - VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) certification is preferred. - Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
