Job Summary We are seeking a skilled VMware HCX Migration Engineer with 2-5 years of experience in virtualization and cloud migration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and supporting workload migrations using VMware HCX across on-premises and cloud environments (such as VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, or GCVE). Key Responsibilities • Plan and execute VM migrations using VMware HCX (vMotion, Bulk Migration, Cold Migration, Replication Assisted vMotion) • Deploy, configure, and manage VMware HCX components (Manager, Interconnect, WAN Optimization, Network Extension) • Perform assessment and discovery of workloads for migration readiness • Handle L2 network extension and ensure minimal downtime during migration • Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize performance • Work with cross-functional teams (network, storage, cloud) to ensure smooth migration • Validate post-migration workloads and ensure application functionality • Maintain documentation for migration plans, runbooks, and execution reports • Support DR and rollback strategies during migration Required Skills • Strong experience in VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) • Hands-on experience with VMware HCX migrations • Good understanding of networking concepts (VLAN, VPN, routing, firewalls) • Experience with cloud platforms (VMware Cloud on AWS / Azure VMware Solution / GCP) • Knowledge of migration strategies and tools • Familiarity with NSX (preferred but not mandatory) • Basic scripting knowledge (PowerCLI / Bash / Python) is a plus Qualifications • VMware certifications (VCP-DCV preferred) • HCX deployment or migration experience is a strong advantage Nice to Have • Experience with multi-cloud migrations • Knowledge of disaster recovery solutions (SRM, Zerto, etc.) • Exposure to automation and infrastructure-as-code
