**Role Summary** The Tech Lead Horizon VDI will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environment, including design, implementation, administration, optimization, and BAU operations. The role demands strong technical expertise along with leadership capabilities to drive stability, performance, and continuous improvement. **Key Responsibilities** **1. Technical Ownership** - Lead administration and support of VMware Horizon (VDI) environment - Manage components: Connection Server, UAG, App Volumes, DEM, vCenter, ESXi - Perform design, deployment, upgrades, and lifecycle management - Ensure VDI performance, capacity planning, and high availability **2. Operations & BAU Management** - Oversee L2/L3 support, incident, problem, and change management - Drive RCA for major incidents (VDI login issues, latency, profile issues) - Monitor and improve SLA, uptime, and user experience - Manage patching, image updates, and gold image optimization **3. Automation & Optimization** - Implement automation (PowerShell / scripting) for repetitive tasks - Optimize logon time, resource utilization, and session stability - Drive cost optimization and capacity efficiency **4. Security & Compliance** - Ensure secure VDI access (MFA, conditional access, UAG hardening) - Manage patch compliance and vulnerability remediation - Maintain audit readiness (access control, documentation, SOPs/runbooks) **5. Stakeholder & Team Management** - Act as technical SPOC for customer and leadership - Mentor L2 engineers and drive KT sessions & skill uplift - Coordinate with network, storage, IAM, and cloud teams - Provide inputs for MSR, dashboards, and governance reviews **Required Skills & Experience** **Core Technical Skills** - Strong experience in VMware Horizon (7.x / 8.x) - Expertise in: - VDI architecture & troubleshooting - App Volumes & Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) - vSphere, ESXi, vCenter - Knowledge of profile management, FSLogix (good to have) - Experience with VDI monitoring tools (e.g., ControlUp, vRealize) **Platform Knowledge** - Windows OS (Windows 10/11 multi-session) - Active Directory, DNS, GPOs - Storage & networking basics (latency, IOPS, protocols) **Scripting & Automation** - PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting **Certifications (Preferred)** - VMware Certified Professional – Desktop & Mobility (VCP-DTM) - VMware Certified
