CAE Powertrain CALSim Engineer Area of Responsibility: **Role Overview** The candidate will be responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing powertrain system simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink and CALSim platforms. The role involves virtual verification of engine, transmission, hybrid, and electric powertrain systems to support vehicle performance, fuel economy, emissions, and durability targets. Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintain 1D system simulation models for powertrain and vehicle systems using MATLAB/Simulink and CALSim. - Model and simulate engine, transmission, driveline, hybrid and EV powertrain systems. - Perform virtual validation of powertrain functions against vehicle-level requirements. - Analyze system performance related to fuel economy, emissions, thermal management, drivability, and energy consumption. - Develop control logic and algorithms using Simulink and Stateflow. - Correlate simulation results with test data and support model calibration activities. - Conduct sensitivity studies, trade-off analyses, and optimization exercises. - Generate simulation reports and present technical findings to customers and stakeholders. - Support model integration, MIL/SIL/HIL activities, and automation of simulation workflows. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including calibration, controls, vehicle integration, and testing teams. Required Skills - Strong knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and Simscape. - Experience in powertrain system modeling and simulation. - Understanding of IC engines, transmissions, hybrid and electric vehicle architectures. - Experience with vehicle performance, fuel economy, and energy management simulations. - Good analytical and troubleshooting skills. - Knowledge of control systems and model-based development processes. - Experience in automation using MATLAB scripting. Preferred Skills - Experience with CALSim or equivalent powertrain simulation tools. - Exposure to MIL, SIL, and HIL validation methods. - Understanding of OBD, emissions, thermal management, and calibration processes. - Familiarity with ISO 26262 and automotive development processes.
