Module Lead\\_Powertrain Cooling Systems Role Summary This role provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise in Automotive Powertrain Cooling Systems within customer vehicle programs. The incumbent will act as the Cooling Systems SME, leading the design, development, integration, validation, and delivery of complete thermal management systems for ICE, MHEV, HEV, and PHEV vehicle applications. The role requires close collaboration with propulsion, vehicle integration, thermal management, calibration, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure cooling systems meet performance, durability, efficiency, quality, cost, and timing targets throughout the product development lifecycle Dimension of Function Responsible for acting as Powertrain Cooling Systems Module Lead and Technical SME within customer programs, providing specialist expertise in cooling system architecture, thermal performance, system integration, validation, and technical issue resolution. Area of Responsibility - Act as the technical lead and primary customer interface for powertrain cooling system activities. - Lead the engineering development of complete cooling systems including radiators, coolant pumps, expansion tanks, hoses, pipes, thermostats, valves, cooling modules, heat exchangers, degas systems, electric pumps, and associated components. - Define cooling system architecture and thermal management strategies to achieve vehicle performance and durability targets. - Ensure system performance under all vehicle operating conditions, including towing, high ambient temperatures, cold weather, altitude, and transient drive cycles. - Lead design reviews, engineering sign-off activities, DFMEA, and technical maturity assessments. - Lead DVP&R activities covering thermal performance, durability, vibration, pressure, environmental, and vehicle-level validation. - Support prototype builds, development testing, launch readiness, and production introduction activities. - Lead root cause analysis and issue resolution for cooling system failures, durability concerns, thermal issues, leak investigations, and customer concerns. - Coordinate supplier technical activities and ensure component delivery meets quality, cost, timing, and performance objectives. - Mentor onsite and offshore engineering teams and provide technical guidance on cooling system development. **Essential Qualifications** - Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Thermal, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline. - Minimum 812 years of automotive engineering experience with significant exposure to powertrain cooling system development. - Strong knowledge of engine cooling, transmission cooling, oil cooling, charge air cooling, and hybrid vehicle thermal management systems. - Experience in the design and integration of radiators, cooling modules, pumps, heat exchangers, coolant circuits, hoses, pipes, and reservoir systems. - Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer principles, fluid flow, and cooling system performance. - Experience with vehicle-level thermal management and cooling system architecture development. - Knowledge of thermal simulation methodologies and engineering calculation techniques. - Experience in requirements management and systems engineering processes. - Proven experience in DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, and engineering sign-off processes. - Strong understanding of automotive product development processes. - Experience working with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and global engineering teams. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigation skills. - Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to customers and stakeholders. **Desired Qualifications** - Previous experience supporting OEM cooling system programmes. - Experience with HEV and PHEV thermal management systems. - Experience with APQP, PPAP, and production launch activities. - Familiarity with cooling system durability, pressure cycling, vibration, thermal ageing, and environmental validation. - Experience supporting vehicle thermal testing and climatic chamber evaluations. - Knowledge of Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D, or structured problem-solving methodologies. - Familiarity with CATIA V5/V6, Teamcenter, Creo, and engineering release processes. - Experience leading supplier development and technical governance activities.
