**Job Title: Senior Linux Administrator RHEL (L2/L3 Support)** **Experience:-**8 – 10 Years **Location:-**Chennai(24x7 Support / On-call as required) **Department:-**Information Technology (IT) – IT Infrastructure / Systems Administration **Job Summary** We are looking for an experienced **Linux System Administrator** with strong expertise in **Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9)**. The candidate will be responsible for managing enterprise Linux environments across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms. The role involves system administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, automation, and ensuring security compliance in large-scale environments. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Linux System Administration - Manage and support **RHEL servers (7/8/9)** across on-prem, virtual, and cloud environments - Perform **OS installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and kernel updates** - Handle package management using **YUM / DNF** 2. Performance Monitoring & Optimization - Monitor system performance using tools like **top, sar, vmstat, iostat** - Perform capacity planning and **system performance tuning** - Analyze trends and take proactive corrective actions 3. Incident & Problem Management (L2/L3 Support) - Handle **L2/L3 incidents, service requests, and escalations** within SLA - Perform **root cause analysis (RCA)** and implement permanent fixes - Troubleshoot OS, network, and storage-related issues 4. Storage & File System Management - Manage **LVM, ext4, XFS file systems, and disk provisioning** - Handle **multipathing and storage optimization** - Ensure storage performance and availability 5. Networking & Security Management - Troubleshoot networking issues related to **TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewall (IPTABLES/FIREWALLD)** - Configure **NIC bonding / teaming** - Implement **OS hardening, SELinux policies, and security compliance** 6. Automation & Scripting - Develop automation using **Ansible, Shell scripting (Bash), Python** - Automate routine administrative tasks and deployments 7. User & Access Management - Manage **user accounts, groups, sudo privileges, and access control policies** - Maintain directory permissions and system security 8. Service & Process Management - Manage services using **systemd and cron jobs** - Monitor background processes and ensure service availability 9. Monitoring & Tools Integration - Work with monitoring tools such as: - **ITM, LPAR2RRD, CACTI, New Relic** - Perform system health checks and reporting 10. Collaboration & Documentation - Collaborate with **DBA, middleware, DevOps, cloud, and application teams** - Maintain **documentation, SOPs, configuration details, and architecture diagrams** **Mandatory Skills** - RHEL 7/8/9 Administration - LVM, File Systems (ext4, XFS), Storage Management - Systemd & OS Troubleshooting - Ansible / Shell Scripting / Automation - Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, Firewall, Routing) **Good-to-Have Skills** - VMware / Hyper-V / Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OpenStack) - Monitoring tools (ITM, CACTI, New Relic, LPAR2RRD) - Security & compliance frameworks - Python scripting **Soft Skills** - Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills - Good communication and collaboration - Ability to handle production-critical environments - Ownership and proactive mindset **Working Conditions** - Willingness to work in a **24x7 shift / on-call support model** - Ability to support **production incidents and maintenance activities** **Educational Qualification** - Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (preferred) **Hiring Note** The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in **Linux system administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting**, along with strong automation and security experience in **enterprise environments**. **Primary Skills (For Portal Entry)** - RHEL - Linux Administration - Ansible - Shell Scripting - LVM / File System - System - Networking
