Job description

**Role & responsibilities** **Strategy & Governance** - Own the **SAM operating model**, standards, and controls across the full software lifecycle (request, approve, acquire, deploy, use/meter, optimize, reclaim, retire), aligned to internal governance and cybersecurity requirements. - Define and maintain **publisher strategies** and roadmaps; lead **ELP (Effective License Position)** creation and trueups for Tier1 publishers; prepare defensible positions for audits. **ServiceNow SAM Pro Build & Run** - Lead **platform configuration** for SAM Pro: Software Models, Normalization rules, Entitlements & Contracts, Reconciliation jobs, Reclamation policies, License Workbench, dashboards, and KPIs. - Integrate SAM Pro with discovery sources (**Discovery/Service Mapping, SCCM/MECM, Tanium, JAMF, Intune, vCenter**) and procurement/contract data to ensure **complete and trustworthy data**. - Operationalize **software request workflows**, license pools, metering/harvesting, and automated **reclamation** to drive cost avoidance and removal of unused software. **Complex Licensing & Compliance** - Model and govern complex metrics: **IBM PVU/RVU/ILMT**, **Oracle Processor/NUP + Options/Packs (incl. virtualization & softpartitioning)**, **Microsoft Corebased & Server/CAL**, **SQL Server core**, **Windows SA**, **SAP named user/engine**, **Adobe VIP/ETLA**, **Autodesk**, **VMware CPU/cores**, **Red Hat subscriptions**, **Salesforce & M365** service plans and usage caps. - Translate contract terms (entitlements, rights, restrictions) into **SAM Pro rules/configuration** and **runbooks**; monitor compliance exposure and financial risk. **Optimization, FinOps & Reporting** - Drive **cost optimization** through reuse, rightsizing, downgrade rights, license transfers, and SaaS rationalization; partner with **FinOps** on cloud/SaaS spend transparency and levers - Publish **ELPs, risk registers, and savings dashboards**; track KPIs/OKRs: license utilization, compliance exposure, reclaimed licenses, cost avoided, audit findings closed, data quality scores. **Stakeholder Leadership** - Coach and lead a small team of **SAM Analysts/Operations Specialists**; establish a hightempo, datadriven service culture. - Partner with Application Owners, Security (BISO/TVM), Procurement/Vendor Management, Finance, and Audit to align lifecycle decisions to **risk and value** **Required Qualifications** - **7–10+ years** in Software Asset Management or ITAM, including **3–5+ years handson** with **ServiceNow SAM Pro** (configuration, data model, reconciliation, reclamation, dashboards). - Demonstrated ownership of **endtoend SAM lifecycle** across onprem, virtualized, and cloud/SaaS environments; proven ELP delivery and audit defense. - Strong expertise across **complex publisher licensing** (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, Adobe, Autodesk, VMware, Red Hat, Salesforce/M365). - Solid understanding of **discovery & inventory** tooling and data pipelines (e.g., MECM/SCCM, Tanium, JAMF, Intune, vCenter) and contract/PO integrations. - Experience building KPIs/OKRs and **executive reporting** on risk, spend, and savings; ability to communicate technical topics to nontechnical leaders. **Preferred Qualifications** - ServiceNow **CSA** and **CISITAM (SAM)**; ITIL® 4 Foundation. - Experience with **ILMT** administration and virtualization compliance for IBM; familiarity with **CSDM** data modeling and CMDB practices. - Exposure to **FinOps** and SaaS management (usage, reclamation, plan optimization). **Key Competencies** - **Handson builder** mindset with strong analytical and licensing acumen. - Influences crossfunctional partners; **clear, concise communicator** with executive presence. - Process design & **continuous improvement**; rigor in documentation and runbook creation. - Risk management, audit readiness, and **data quality stewardship**. **Success Measures (First 12 Months)** - Establish a governed **publisher prioritization** and deliver **ELPs** for top publishers with quantified risk reduction and savings. - Deploy or mature **reclamation** and **metering/harvesting** to achieve defined utilization targets and **hard cost avoidance**. - Improve SAM data quality (complete, correct, current) and reporting cadence; publish executive dashboards in SAM Pro. - Document and operationalize **SAM runbooks** and RACI across stakeholder groups.
