Job Title: Assistant Manager - Mechanical Sourcing Company: Cyient DLM Location: Bangalore Job Summary We are looking for an experienced mechanical sourcing engineer with 8 to 12 years of experience, preferably in the aerospace/defense sector. The candidate will handle sourcing of sheet metal, machining, casting, and stamping parts; manage vendor development and part-approval processes; and ensure timely supply of components to meet production demands while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery. Key Responsibilities • Source and procure mechanical parts/components, including sheet metal, machined, cast, and stamped parts for aerospace/defense products. • Identify, evaluate, and qualify vendors; drive vendor development and approval processes for new parts. • Negotiate with suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets in line with customer requirements and company budgets. • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, quality, production, and supply chain) and customers during part design, development, and approval stages. • Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace/defense industry standards (e.g., ISO/AS standards) and documentation requirements. • Implement cost-reduction strategies and continuous improvement initiatives for sourcing and procurement. • Manage the purchasing process end-to-end: RFQs, supplier evaluation, POs, follow-ups, quality checks, delivery tracking, and ensuring parts availability for production. • Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, reliability), address any deviations, and ensure corrective actions as needed. • Maintain accurate procurement records and a supplier database, and generate procurement/cost/vendor performance reports. Candidate Profile / Requirements • Diploma or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). • 0812 years of relevant experience in mechanical sourcing/procurement, especially in the aerospace or defense industry. • Proven experience sourcing sheet metal, machined, cast, and stamped parts. • Strong vendor development experience and familiarity with part-development processes. • Solid understanding of aerospace/defence industry requirements, standards, and compliance (e.g., ISO/AS standards). • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to drive suppliers to meet cost and delivery targets. • Strong communication skills—capable of interacting with suppliers, internal teams, and customers during development and approval phases. • Sound understanding of purchasing processes, supply chain workflows, and ERP or procurement systems. • Analytical mindset and experience in cost-reduction initiatives. • Ability to follow up and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of parts for production. • Preferred/Additional Skills (if applicable) • Prior exposure to aerospace/defense product sourcing or a manufacturing environment. • Experience working with quality management systems and relevant standards. • Familiarity with supplier audits, vendor qualification, and compliance documentation. • Strong project coordination skills—ability to liaise between engineering, quality, supply chain, and vendor teams.
