Job Description Role Overview The Consultant will perform Post Payment Audit reviews across accounts payable, retail, procurement, and supplier commercial data. The role is responsible for identifying leakage, validating recovery opportunities, presenting claim rationale, working with suppliers and client stakeholders, and supporting root-cause correction. This role requires strong analytical judgment, commercial interpretation, and the ability to manage multiple audit workstreams with quality and pace. Key Responsibilities · Analyze structured and unstructured datasets, contracts, agreements, purchase orders, invoices, item files, promotion records, and supplier correspondence to identify leakage scenarios and recovery opportunities. · Create, validate, and defend claims related to overpayments, underpayments, duplicate payments, missed allowances, rebates, agreement variances, freight or fee discrepancies, and correspondence-driven exceptions. · Prepare claim packs with defensible logic, evidence references, calculations, supplier impact, and recommended resolution approach. · Engage suppliers, merchants, client stakeholders, and internal teams to clarify open items, resolve disputes, and align on audit findings. · Identify process or data issues and proactively highlight them to team leads with recommended corrective actions. · Support audit planning, status reporting, tracker governance, quality checks, and workstream prioritization. Core Skills • Strong analytical thinking and ability to reconstruct transaction lifecycle from multiple evidence sources • Data analysis, research, stakeholder management, and claim defense capability • Strong written and verbal communication skills for supplier and client interactions • Commercial awareness across AP, procurement, vendor funding, merchandising, source-to-pay, or retail finance • Ability to manage multiple priorities with ownership and accuracy • Consultative problem-solving and ability to convert findings into practical recommendations Technical / Domain Skills • Intermediate to advanced Excel, including data cleansing, reconciliations, pivots, lookups, and formula-based testing • Familiarity with ERP systems, AP systems, supplier portals, workflow tools, and basic reporting platforms • Exposure to Access, SQL, Power BI, or automation-enabled audit tools is an advantage Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field · Advanced degree, MBA, or relevant certification preferred · Experience in post audit, AP recovery, supplier audit, retail finance, procurement operations, or data-driven financial controls preferred Success Measures · Recovery opportunity identification and validation quality · Supplier/client acceptance of claim rationale · Quality and timeliness of claim packs and reporting · Proactive escalation of issues and contribution to root-cause fixes Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable working with data, documentation, suppliers, clients, and internal stakeholders. The candidate should demonstrate ownership, professional communication, confidentiality, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
