Role Overview • Job Title: Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Manager • Department: Corporate Risk Management / Operations • Reports To: Head of Risk Management / designated leadership Job Purpose The BCP Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the organization’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework. This role ensures the company can effectively respond to, recover from, and maintain operations during major disruptions (e.g., natural disasters, cyberattacks, supply chain failures, or pandemics). The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between strategic planning and tactical execution, fostering a culture of resilience across all business units. Key Responsibilities 1. Program Implementation & Strategy • Lead the development, rollout, and continuous improvement of the enterprise-wide BCP and Disaster Recovery (DR) frameworks. • Translate corporate resiliency strategies into actionable, department-specific continuity plans. • Align BCP policies with international standards, specifically ISO 22301. 2. Business Impact Analysis (BIA) & Risk Assessment • Coordinate and conduct annual Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) to identify critical business functions, Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs). • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, and single points of failure within the organization and its third-party vendors. 3. Monitoring, Testing, and Exercising • Design, schedule, and facilitate regular BCP testing and simulation exercises (including tabletop exercises, live drills, component testing, and full-scale simulations). • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the readiness and effectiveness of BCP plans. • Document test results, conduct post-mortem analyses, and track the remediation of identified gaps. 4. Crisis Management & Incident Response • Serve as a core member of the Crisis Management Team (CMT), providing guidance and coordination during actual disruptive events. • Ensure emergency communication protocols and tools are functional, updated, and ready for deployment at a moment's notice. 5. Training, Awareness, and Culture • Develop and deliver BCP training programs and awareness campaigns for employees at all levels. • Act as a subject matter expert and advisor to business unit leaders, helping them embed resiliency into their daily operations. Job Qualifications & Requirements Experience • 5 to 8 years of dedicated experience in Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery, or Corporate Risk Management. • Proven track record of successfully managing and executing BIA processes and large-scale BCP simulation exercises. • Experience in a supervisory or project leadership role, effectively managing cross-functional stakeholders. Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Information Technology, or a related field. • Preferred Professional Certifications: Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP). Technical Skills • Deep understanding of BCM methodologies, threat modeling, and risk mitigation strategies. • Familiarity with BCP/DR software automation tools (e.g., Fusion Risk Management, Archer, Quantivate) and emergency mass-notification systems. • Solid grasp of IT Disaster Recovery concepts (cloud backup, data replication, failover systems) to effectively collaborate with IT infrastructure teams. Soft Skills & Competencies • Crisis Leadership: Ability to maintain composure, think critically, and make sound decisions under high-pressure, ambiguous situations. • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and drive organizational change. • Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to synthesize complex data from various business units into a cohesive strategy.
