About the role: As the Director of Data and AI Platform Engineering, you will lead the strategic vision, design, and execution of SailPoint’s high-performance enterprise data and artificial intelligence platforms in Pune. You will spend your days driving technical excellence, scaling our distributed systems, and empowering engineering teams to build data-intensive and machine learning-driven applications with ease. In this role, you will oversee both the Data and AI Platform teams, guiding team members in both technical and professional growth. You will lead a powerhouse of engineering talent working with a sophisticated modern tech stack that includes Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, dbt, Airflow, and OpenSearch, alongside state-of-the-art AI/ML engineering tools across multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure). You will bridge the gap between high-level architectural design and day-to-day delivery, ensuring our user-facing products have robust full-text search capabilities, data governance, high-volume streaming, and scalable AI infrastructure. About the team: The SailPoint Data and AI Platform teams in Pune are the foundational engines powering our core Identity Security Cloud, the Identity Graph, and various analytics and machine learning-driven products and services across SailPoint. We deliver cutting-edge, reliable, and user-friendly infrastructure for data ingestion, storage, processing, interaction, and machine learning model lifecycle management. Our teams provide a fully managed Lakehouse solution powered by Snowflake and Apache Flink, custom AI/ML model-serving platforms, a Service and Data Catalog, and various custom-built services to manage data and models at massive scale. We support key products and organizations across SailPoint, including Identity Security Cloud, Non-Employee Risk Management, Machine Identity Security, Agent Identity Security, Data Access Security, and Cloud Infrastructure and Entitlement Management. Responsibilities : Team Leadership: • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of software engineers specializing in Flink, Spark, Snowflake, Iceberg, Airflow and related technologies • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement inline with SailPoint’s 4-Is cultural framework • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting their professional growth • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for training and development • Manage team workload, prioritize projects, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions Technical Strategy and Execution: • Define and execute the technical roadmap for our data platform, aligning with SailPoint's overall data strategy • Drive innovation in data processing techniques, exploring new technologies and approaches to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency • Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust and scalable data pipelines using Flink / Spark, dbt, Airflow and Snowflake / Iceberg • Ensure the reliability, availability, and security of our data processing infrastructure • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate our data processing technologies with other SailPoint systems and services Stakeholder Management: • Partner with data scientists, data engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand their data processing needs and requirements • Communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences • Advocate for best practices in data processing and engineering; Manage expectations and ensure alignment across different teams Engineering Thought Leadership: • Know and evangelize what excellence looks like when it comes to high volume data processing • Represent SailPoint data platform innovations at external conferences • Deliver presentations and write blog posts highlighting SailPoint’s leadership in big data processing Minimum Qualifications • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience • 12+ years of software development experience, with a focus on data processing or machine learning systems at scale • 8+ years of engineering people management experience—leading, mentoring, and growing teams, with 3+ years of experience managing engineering managers • Deep expertise in open-source data technologies like Apache Flink, Spark, Airflow, Iceberg, and OpenSearch • Hands-on experience with data processing and AI languages such as Java / Scala and Python • Deep understanding of data pipeline and ML system performance, including partitioning, parallelism, serialization, scaling, and storage formats • Strong knowledge of modern infrastructure including containers, orchestration, cloud computing (AWS / GCP / Azure), information retrieval, and distributed systems • Experience supporting high-volume, low-latency systems in highly regulate
