About Us Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. We bring that vision to life through our values and culture. Learn more about Target here. Target’s physical stores are a critical expression of that promise—and a key focus in our next chapter. Guided by our commitment to style, design, and value, the Architecture & Guest Experience (AGx) team is evolving how we design and deliver stores, bringing together architecture, interiors, and fixtures to create more integrated and design-led environments across our portfolio. We are building toward a more design-led future—where our stores are not only efficient and buildable, but also more intentional, expressive, and differentiated, creating better experiences for our guests at scale. About the Team The Store Design organization brings together design and technical capabilities to develop and deliver thoughtful, buildable, and scalable store experiences. Within Store Design, the Architecture & Guest Experience (AGX) team in India brings together Architecture, Fixture Development & Implementation, and Visualization & 3D. The team works in close partnership with Store Design teams in the U.S., providing specialized expertise and owning critical workflows that help translate design intent into the tools, models, documentation, and solutions needed to deliver Target stores at scale. As Director, Store Design – India, you will lead this multidisciplinary organization and its team of leaders. You will create clarity and connection across distinct areas of expertise, develop people and organizational capability, and strengthen how the India team works within the broader global Store Design organization. As Director, Store Design – India, you will: • Lead the AGX team in India, with responsibility for Architecture, Fixture Development & Implementation, and Visualization & 3D. Set priorities and expectations across these distinct workstreams while developing leaders and team members to grow their capabilities, judgment, and impact. • Build strong connectivity between teams in India and the U.S., serving as a key leadership partner across the global Store Design organization. Create shared understanding of priorities and strengthen how work moves between teams, helping determine where the India organization is best positioned to own work, contribute expertise, or provide support. • Lead the delivery of critical store design workflows and capabilities across architectural modeling and documentation, fixture development and implementation, and visualization. Ensure work is accurate, timely, and connected to the broader systems, standards, and processes required to deliver Target stores. • Connect the team to the broader purpose and context behind the work, helping team members understand design intent, business priorities, and downstream implications so they can exercise strong judgment, anticipate needs, and solve problems beyond the immediate task. • Improve how the organization works across disciplines and geographies, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, clarify ownership, improve quality, remove barriers, and create more effective ways of working with Store Design and cross-functional partners. • Build a strong, adaptable organization and talent pipeline. Coach and develop leaders, align resources to business priorities, establish accountability for results, and evolve team capabilities as the needs of the global Store Design organization change. Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs. About You • Four-year degree or equivalent experience in architecture, design, engineering, construction, or a related field. • 10+ years of relevant experience in architecture, store design, design development, design delivery, or a related built-environment field, including experience leading professional teams and people leaders. • People & Organizational Leadership: Experience leading leaders and multidisciplinary teams, setting clear direction and accountability, developing talent, and building team capabilities to meet changing business needs. • Design & Technical Fluency: Broad understanding of the design and delivery of physical environments, with the ability to effectively lead teams of specialized experts across architecture, fixtures, visualization, documentation, and implementation. • Cross-Functional & Global Leadership: Experience building strong partnerships across functions, disciplines, and/or geographies; aligning teams around shared priorities; and creating clarity across complex workflows and areas of ownership. • Strategic Problem Solving & Operational Leadership: Ability to connect broader business and design priorities to the work of an organization, navigate ambiguity and competing needs, and improve processes, standards, and ways of working. • Communication & Influence: Ability to communicate complex topics clearly, build alignment, and influence senior leaders and partners across different disciplines, functions, and levels of technical expertise. Preferred • Experience in architecture or architectural delivery. • Experience in retail, hospitality, commercial architecture, or another complex, multi-site environment. • Experience working with globally distributed design or technical teams.
