**Role & responsibilities** Job Title: Data Science Manager Generative AI Role Summary We are seeking a Data Science Manager – Generative AI to lead the design, development, and deployment of GenAI solutions that drive business impact. This role blends people leadership, advanced machine learning expertise, and product thinking, with a strong focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), multimodal models, and AI-driven applications. You will manage a team of data scientists and ML engineers, partner closely with product and engineering leaders, and ensure GenAI initiatives move from experimentation to scalable, responsible production systems. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists working on GenAI and advanced ML initiatives - Define GenAI roadmap aligned with business and product strategy - Translate ambiguous business problems into actionable AI solutions - Drive best practices for model development, evaluation, and deployment Generative AI & Machine Learning - Design and oversee solutions using LLMs, embeddings, RAG pipelines, finetuning, and prompt engineering - Evaluate and select foundation models (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models, etc.) - Guide experimentation with multimodal AI (text, image, audio, video) - Ensure model quality, robustness, fairness, and explainability MLOps & Productionization - Partner with engineering to deploy GenAI systems at scale - Establish MLOps standards: versioning, monitoring, retraining, and cost optimization - Ensure performance, latency, security, and reliability of GenAI systems Stakeholder & Product Collaboration - Work closely with Product Managers to define AI-driven features and success metrics - Communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives - Support go-to-market and customer-facing GenAI capabilities Governance & Responsible AI - Implement responsible AI practices, including privacy, compliance, and risk mitigation - Ensure ethical use of GenAI models and adherence to regulatory standards **Preferred candidate profile** Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field - 6+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI roles - 2+ years of people management or technical leadership experience - Strong hands-on experience with Generative AI and LLMs - Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face) - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) - Solid understanding of statistics, experimentation, and model evaluation Preferred Qualifications - Experience deploying RAG systems, fine-tuned LLMs, or agent-based architectures - Familiarity with vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus) - Experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow) - Background in NLP, conversational AI, or search/recommendation systems - Experience working in regulated or enterprise environment
