Through our people, leadership development, services, technology and scale, Wabtec delivers better outcomes for global customers by speaking the language of industry.   Role Summary / Purpose We are seeking a Lead Engineer – Simulation to join the Engine & Power Solutions Center of Excellence (COE) in Bangalore. This role is responsible for performing and leading advanced simulation and analysis activities to support the design, development, validation, and optimization of diesel engine components and systems. The successful candidate will leverage FEA expertise in structural analysis, thermal and thermo-mechanical simulations, and simulation-driven product development to deliver robust, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions. The engineer will play a key role in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), productivity, reliability, and cost optimization initiatives by developing analytical models, predicting component life, identifying design risks, and providing actionable recommendations to engineering teams. Working in a global, cross-functional environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with design, systems, testing, manufacturing, and validation teams to drive data-driven engineering decisions throughout the product lifecycle. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate complex simulation results into practical engineering solutions. The role provides an opportunity to influence product design, advance simulation methodologies, and contribute to the development of next-generation engine technologies. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates in accordance with company policy.   Essential Responsibilities • Lead simulation activities for diesel engine components and systems to support product development, reliability, and cost optimization. • Develop and execute Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models to evaluate structural, thermal, thermo-mechanical, durability, and vibration performance. • Perform fatigue and durability assessments, including Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF), High Cycle Fatigue (HCF), and life prediction analyses. • Analyze requirements and provide simulation-driven recommendations for design optimization, material selection, and engineering decision-making. • Collaborate with design, testing, manufacturing, and systems teams to support product development and validation activities. • Correlate simulation results with test and field data to improve model accuracy, root cause investigation and product reliability. • Develop and maintain simulation methodologies, technical reports, analysis procedures, and engineering best practices. • Drive the adoption of advanced simulation techniques, automation, scripting, and process improvements to enhance simulation efficiency, workflow standardization, and engineering productivity. • Manage project deliverables related to technical quality, schedule, and execution while effectively communicating progress, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders. • Promote a culture of safety, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.     Qualifications/Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. • Minimum 6 years of experience in engineering simulation and product development. • Strong expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and structural/thermo-mechanical analysis. • Experience with ANSYS or equivalent simulation tools. • Solid understanding of mechanics, materials, fatigue, vibration, heat transfer, and failure analysis. • Experience supporting test correlation, verification, and validation activities. • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. • Willingness to support testing activities and travel as required.  </p
