About the Role We are looking for a skilled Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in backend development, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions. Key Responsibilities Backend Development • Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based backend applications. • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices. • Translate business requirements into scalable and efficient technical solutions. • Write clean, maintainable, and high-quality code following best practices. • Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. System Design & Architecture • Contribute to application design, architecture, and technical decision-making. • Implement scalable and reliable solutions with fault tolerance and high availability. • Participate in design and code reviews to ensure quality standards. • Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability. Cloud & Modern Engineering Practices • Develop and deploy applications in cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure). • Work with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes). • Build applications aligned with cloud-native principles. • Support modernization initiatives and adoption of new technologies. DevOps & Operations • Work with CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployments. • Collaborate with teams on monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting. • Debug and resolve production issues in distributed systems. • Follow best practices in automation and infrastructure management. Collaboration & Quality • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders. • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint deliverables. • Maintain high coding standards and ensure quality through testing. • Contribute to documentation, including technical designs and runbooks. Required Skills & Experience Core Technical Skills • Strong experience in Java and Spring Boot development. • Hands-on experience with backend systems, APIs, and microservices architecture. • Good understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns. Cloud & DevOps • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure). • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized applications. • Experience with CI/CD tools, Git workflows, and automation. • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) is a plus. Data & Integration • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.). • Familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus. • Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging systems. Nice to Have • Exposure to frontend technologies such as React or Angular. • Experience with monitoring and observability tools. • Familiarity with Big Data or distributed systems concepts. Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. • Relevant experience in software development and backend engineering.
