Job Description We are seeking an experienced Principal Lead – Design Engineering to join our Finance Technology organization. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on hands-on architecture, engineering, platform modernization, and delivery of highly scalable and resilient financial applications. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across Python, Java and/or .NET, AWS cloud technologies, distributed systems, DevOps, and modern software engineering practices. The role requires leadership through technical excellence, driving engineering standards, solving complex technical challenges, and influencing architecture decisions without direct people-management responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of enterprise-grade financial applications and platform services using Python, Java, and/or .NET technologies.  • Provide technical leadership for application architecture, cloud-native modernization initiatives, and technology transformations.  • Design scalable, secure, high-performance solutions across AWS cloud environments.  • Develop and optimize APIs, microservices, event-driven services, and integration frameworks supporting critical business processes.  • Drive engineering best practices including code reviews, design reviews, automated testing, observability, resiliency, and performance optimization.  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, release automation, infrastructure automation, and platform engineering capabilities.  • Build and deploy containerized applications using Docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, and related technologies.  • Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.  • Partner with architects, cloud engineering, security, DevOps, QA, and business stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives.  • Perform deep technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and remediation of complex production issues.  • Evaluate emerging technologies and establish reusable engineering patterns, frameworks, and reference architectures.  • Drive automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across development and operational processes.  • Ensure applications comply with enterprise security, governance, risk, and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.  • 10–20 years of progressive software engineering and application development experience.  • Strong hands-on expertise in Python and Java or .NET application development.  • Deep knowledge of software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, and distributed systems.  • Extensive experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, ECS/EKS, RDS, VPC, and related cloud services.  • Strong experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.  • Advanced understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead and deliver complex technical initiatives from design through production deployment.  • Strong debugging, performance tuning, observability, and production support capabilities.  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.  Preferred Qualifications • Exposure to  analytics platforms, AI/ML enablement, AI in SDLC or platform modernization initiatives. • Experience in financial services, insurance, capital markets, treasury, actuarial, or related finance technology domains.   • Experience with event streaming, messaging platforms, and large-scale application modernization programs.  Soft Skills • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical thinking.  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently.  • Ability to influence architecture and engineering directions through technical leadership.  • Effective collaboration across geographically distributed teams and stakeholders.  In-Office Collaboration We are a client-centric, relationship-based business.
