Role & responsibilities Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable UI and API automation frameworks using Playwright and Python. • Implement framework patterns such as Page Object Model, data-driven testing, modular design, fixtures, reusable utilities, and parallel execution. • Plan and execute automation coverage for smoke, regression, integration, functional, and end-to-end testing. • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and enable fast, reliable release feedback. • Create robust cross-browser and cross-platform automation coverage using Playwright capabilities. • Develop API automation using Playwright API testing, Python requests, Pytest, or related tools. • Conduct root cause analysis for failures, reduce flaky tests, and improve test reliability. • Perform code reviews and enforce coding, automation, reporting, and test design standards. • Collaborate with developers, product owners, DevOps, and QA teams in Agile delivery models. • Manage and triage defects using JIRA and provide clear automation reports and release readiness metrics. • Mentor junior QA engineers and promote best practices in Playwright and Python automation. Required Skills: Automation & Programming • Strong experience in Playwright automation using Python. • Strong Python programming/scripting skills including OOP, fixtures, data handling, logging, and reusable utilities. • Good understanding of Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Selenium WebDriver, and TestNG is an advantage. • Experience building and owning automation frameworks at scale. Framework Design & Test Engineering • Hands-on experience with Page Object Model, data-driven testing, modular frameworks, and parallel execution. • Strong test design knowledge including BVA, equivalence partitioning, risk-based testing, and debugging. • Experience with Pytest, Playwright Test Runner, reporting plugins, and reusable framework libraries. • Ability to reduce flakiness through reliable waits, locator strategy, tracing, screenshots, videos, and retry design. CI/CD, Tools & Delivery • Experience integrating automation into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar pipelines. • Strong Git knowledge including branching, pull requests, and code reviews. • Experience with JIRA for planning, defect tracking, triage, and reporting. • Knowledge of Maven/Gradle for Java and pip/Poetry/npm/yarn for automation dependencies. Good-to-Have Skills • API automation using REST Assured, Postman/Newman, Playwright API, Python requests, or similar tools. • BDD with Cucumber or Behave and Gherkin practices. • Cloud test grids such as BrowserStack or Sauce Labs. • Reporting and quality gates using Allure, ExtentReports, SonarQube, ESLint, Checkstyle, or similar tools. • Microservices and messaging test strategy exposure, including Kafka-based validation. Preferred candidate profile
