We are looking for an iOS engineer to own how that feels. About the Company Urban Company is a technology platform offering customers a variety of services at home. Customers use our platform to book services such as beauty treatments, haircuts, massage therapy, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry, appliance repair, painting, etc., all delivered in the comfort of their home and at a time of their choosing. We promise our customers a high-quality, standardised, and reliable service experience. To fulfil this promise, we work closely with our hand-picked service partners, enabling them with technology, training, products, tools, financing, insurance, and brand, helping them succeed and deliver on this promise. Urban Company started as UrbanClap in November 2014, when its founders, Abhiraj, Raghav, and Varun, realized that the home services industry was predominantly unorganized, fragmented, and offline. Customers found it challenging to avail quality services conveniently, and service professionals were struggling to make ends meet, having to rely upon several middlemen, contractors, and local aggregators. About the Role & Team We are looking for a mobile engineer who is strong in iOS (Swift) and also hands-on with React Native . Most of our app experience is built with React Native on top of native foundations, so you will work on both sides — writing native iOS code where performance and platform features matter, and React Native code for shared product experiences. This role is cross-platform by design . If you are iOS-heavy, you should be excited to work on React Native. If you are React Native-heavy, you should be excited to go deep into native iOS. We are clear about this from day one. What You'll Do • Build and ship user-facing experiences across our apps — native iOS where performance and platform features matter, React Native for shared product surfaces. • Work cross-platform every day: native modules, the RN–native boundary, and the New Architecture (Fabric, TurboModules, JSI). • Own releases end to end — phased rollout, post-release monitoring, and the call to halt or roll back when the numbers say so. • Raise the technical bar — code review, architectural input, and mentoring engineers earlier in their careers than you. Technology Stack Mobile: Swift, React Native, TypeScript iOS: UIKit and SwiftUI, Swift Concurrency, SPM and CocoaPods, Instruments, Xcode React Native: The New Architecture — Fabric, TurboModules, JSI — and Hermes Release & Observability: CI/CD and Fastlane-class automation, phased rollouts, crash and ANR monitoring, over-the-air updates Adjacent Exposure: Node.js and TypeScript services, micro-frontends What We're Looking For • People who passed out in 2023 or after: Building mobile applications, with iOS as your primary platform. • Strong hands-on skills in iOS (Swift / UIKit / SwiftUI) and React Native — comfortable in both, with depth in at least one. • You have thought seriously about app performance and can explain what you measured, what you improved, and how. • You have debugged production issues on apps at large scale and can walk through your approach step by step. • You know which metrics to check after a big release to make sure the delivery is clean and bug-free. • You follow what is new iOS 26 and upcoming platform changes , or React Native's New Architecture : what it changes, its benefits, and how you have used or explored it. • Comfort with React Native and TypeScript, or a real appetite to become good at it quickly. • You are familiar with Appstore • Strong ownership. You drive problems end to end rather than handing them across a boundary. Before You Apply — The Honest Bit Cross-platform is the job This role sits on the iOS and React Native boundary, and you will work on both sides of it. iOS is where we want your depth. React Native and TypeScript will be part of your daily work — not an occasional favour. If you are looking to stay purely native, this is not the right role for you, and we would rather you knew that now.
