If you're excited about building data platforms from the ground up and leading teams through 0→1 product journeys, we'd love to talk. **About the Role** We're looking for a **Senior Engineering Manager – Data Products** to lead the engineering charter for our next-generation Data Platform and AdTech initiatives. This is a highly technical leadership role where you'll lead a team of engineers while remaining deeply involved in architecture, system design, and engineering execution. You'll own the reliability, scalability, and evolution of our data platform and the applications built on top of it. You'll work at the intersection of Data Engineering, Distributed Systems, AI, and Product Engineering to build platforms that process massive-scale transactional data and power intelligent customer experiences. **What You'll Do** **In this role, you will:** - Lead and grow a high-performing team of 8–12 engineers across Data Engineering and Backend Engineering. - Drive the architecture, design, and delivery of large-scale data platforms and customer-facing data applications. - Own the production reliability, scalability, latency, and operational excellence of mission-critical data systems. - Build and evolve modern data platforms using data lakes, lakehouses, data warehouses, and real-time analytics technologies. - Partner closely with Product, Business, and Engineering teams to build data products that solve real customer problems. - Establish engineering best practices around system design, code quality, testing, observability, and incident management. - Foster an AI-first engineering culture by leveraging AI-assisted development for code generation, testing, documentation, and operational automation. - Hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent while creating a strong culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning. - Drive engineering decisions around data governance, privacy, compliance, and data localization requirements. - Collaborate with cross-functional and geo-distributed teams to align priorities and deliver business outcomes. **What We're Looking For** To succeed in this role, you should have: - 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering or Data Engineering, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams. - Hands-on experience building and operating large-scale data platforms, data warehouses, lakehouses, or analytics systems. - Strong expertise in distributed systems, backend architecture, databases, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures. - Experience with technologies such as **Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, ClickHouse, Pinot, Redshift** , or similar modern data stack technologies. - Strong programming experience in **Java, Go, Python** , or similar backend languages. - Experience designing highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant production systems. - Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance, including data localization and DPDP principles. - Experience collaborating with Product and Business teams to translate customer problems into scalable technical solutions. - A passion for building engineering culture, mentoring teams, and driving technical excellence. - A builder's mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguity and move quickly. **Nice to Have** - Experience building AI-powered products or integrating AI into engineering workflows. - Experience working in FinTech, Payments, AdTech, or large-scale consumer platforms. - Exposure to real-time analytics, streaming platforms, and ML data infrastructure. - Experience building products from 0→1. **You'll Thrive Here If You** - Love building products and platforms from scratch. - Enjoy solving large-scale distributed systems challenges. - Lead by example and remain hands-on with technology. - Believe engineering leaders should spend time in architecture reviews, debugging production systems, and mentoring engineers. - Embrace AI as a force multiplier for engineering productivity. - Are passionate about building teams, culture, and long-term engineering excellence. **Why Join Setu?** At Setu, you'll help build the data infrastructure powering millions of financial transactions and customer experiences every day.
