Job Title: Senior Mainframe (MF) DB2 Technician Category: Mainframe Technician Location: Bengaluru Position ID: J0626-2082 Employment Type: Full Time Experience Required: 8+ Years **Job Summary** We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe DB2 Technician to join our Mainframe Infrastructure and Database Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, performance tuning, and operational support of IBM Db2 for z/OS environments supporting mission critical business applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Mainframe technologies, strong problem solving capabilities, and a proven track record of managing enterprise scale DB2 environments. This role requires close collaboration with application development teams, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business stakeholders to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities DB2 Administration and Support - Administer and support IBM Db2 for z/OS databases in production, test, and development environments. - Perform database creation, modification, maintenance, and lifecycle management activities. - Manage DB2 subsystems, buffer pools, storage groups, tablespaces, indexes, and database objects. - Support DB2 installations, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities. Production Support - Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for DB2 related incidents and service requests. - Troubleshoot complex database issues and restore services within agreed SLA targets. - Participate in major incident management activities and provide technical expertise during critical situations. - Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Performance Monitoring and Optimization - Monitor database health, performance, and capacity utilization. - Analyze SQL performance and recommend optimization strategies. - Perform database tuning activities involving buffer pools, access paths, indexes, and system resources. - Support workload management and capacity planning initiatives. Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery - Manage database backup and recovery processes. - Execute recovery procedures during incidents and planned testing activities. - Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution. - Ensure data integrity and business continuity requirements are met. Security and Compliance - Implement and maintain DB2 security controls and access management policies. - Support audit, regulatory, and compliance requirements. - Ensure adherence to organizational security standards and best practices. - Monitor database access and investigate security related events. Change and Release Management - Implement approved changes in accordance with change management processes. - Support application deployments and releases involving database modifications. - Perform impact assessments and validation testing for database changes. - Maintain accurate documentation for all database related changes. Automation and Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to automate routine database administration tasks. - Develop and maintain operational procedures and support documentation. - Contribute to process improvement and operational excellence initiatives. - Participate in modernization and transformation programs involving Mainframe technologies.
