Job Title: Senior ZOS (Operating System for IBM Z Mainframe) Technician Category: IBM Z Mainframe Technician Location: Bangalore Employment Type: Full Time Position ID: J0626-2083 Experience Required: 5–10+ Years **Job Summary** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior z/OS Technician to join our Mainframe Infrastructure Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, support, and optimization of IBM z/OS environments that support mission critical enterprise applications and business operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies, operating system administration, performance tuning, automation, security, and production support. This role requires collaboration with infrastructure, middleware, database, application, and security teams to ensure the stability, availability, performance, and security of the organization's Mainframe platform. Key Responsibilities z/OS System Administration - Administer, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating system environments. - Support z/OS system software installation, maintenance, upgrades, and patch management using SMP/E. - Manage and maintain system parameters, PARMLIB members, PROCLIBs, and operational configurations. - Ensure system availability, reliability, and performance across production and non-production environments. System Monitoring and Operations Support - Monitor Mainframe system health, performance, capacity, and resource utilization. - Identify and resolve system issues impacting availability and performance. - Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for operating system related incidents and service requests. - Participate in major incident management and critical issue resolution activities. Performance and Capacity Management - Analyze CPU, memory, storage, and workload utilization trends. - Perform performance tuning and optimization activities. - Support capacity planning initiatives and provide recommendations for infrastructure growth. - Monitor and manage Workload Manager (WLM) policies and system performance objectives. Security Administration - Support RACF administration activities, including user provisioning, access management, and security policy implementation. - Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and audit requirements. - Assist in vulnerability remediation and security assessments. - Support regulatory and compliance audits. Storage and System Resource Management - Support DASD, tape, and storage management activities. - Coordinate with storage teams to optimize storage utilization and performance. - Manage system datasets and catalog related activities. - Ensure effective backup and recovery procedures are maintained. Change, Release, and Maintenance Management - Implement approved changes in accordance with change management processes. - Support system upgrades, migrations, maintenance activities, and technology refresh initiatives. - Conduct impact analysis and validation testing following system changes. - Maintain accurate documentation for all infrastructure changes. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity - Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution. - Ensure recovery procedures are documented and regularly validated. - Participate in business continuity exercises and infrastructure resilience initiatives. - Assist in recovery efforts during system outages and disaster scenarios. Automation and Continuous Improvement - Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational procedures. - Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. - Contribute to infrastructure modernization and transformation initiatives. - Maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks. Leadership and Collaboration - Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior team members. - Collaborate with application, database, middleware, network, and security teams. - Participate in architecture reviews and strategic infrastructure planning. - Support enterprise-wide technology initiatives and projects. **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. - Minimum 5–10 years of experience supporting IBM z/OS Mainframe environments. - Proven experience in large scale enterprise pro
