Software Development Test Engineer

**Role & responsibilities** - Automate API Testing: Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for RESTful APIs using Java and REST Assured. - Framework Scaling: Enhance our existing automation frameworks with TestNG/JUnit to support parallel and data-driven testing. - Continuous Integration: Integrate API test suites into our CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab) so bugs are caught before they ever hit production. - Backend Validation: Perform direct database validation using SQL to verify that data flowing through the APIs is processed correctly. - Collaborate: Partner closely with software developers to understand API contracts (Swagger/OpenAPI) and participate in code reviews. **Preferred candidate profile** - Experience: 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in software testing with a heavy emphasis on backend/API automation. - Java Proficiency: Strong foundations in Core Java (OOP concepts, Collections, Exception Handling, and Java 8+ streams/lambdas). - API Testing Mastery: Extensive experience testing web services using tools like REST Assured and Postman. - Tech Stack Fundamentals: Solid understanding of Maven, Git (branching, merging, PRs), JSON data parsing, and HTTP status codes. - Problem Solvers: Someone who proactively looks for edge cases and doesn't stop investigating until a bug is found and understood.
