About The Department The Enterprise Data, Governance & Integration Platforms Engineering team delivers the foundational platforms that power enterprise data, analytics, integration, governance, and AI capabilities across Franklin Templeton. Working at the intersection of cloud engineering, platform development, and data innovation, the team builds reusable services, APIs, and engineering frameworks that enable scalable and secure business solutions. Team members gain hands-on experience with modern cloud technologies, platform engineering practices, AI-enabled development tools, and enterprise-scale data ecosystems while partnering with engineering, governance, analytics, and security teams. How You Will Add Value? Core Responsibilities • You will develop and enhance reusable data engineering frameworks and platform services. • You will build APIs, SDKs, and cloud-native components supporting enterprise data platforms. • You will develop batch and real-time data processing capabilities using Python and AWS. • You will implement scalable data ingestion and transformation solutions. • You will contribute to Data Lake and event-driven platform development. • You will build and support CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment processes. • You will monitor platform performance and resolve operational issues. • You will create technical documentation and improve developer productivity tools. Team & Collaboration • You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver platform capabilities. • You will participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and engineering forums. • You will share knowledge and contribute to engineering best practices. • You will actively seek mentorship and expand your platform engineering expertise. Strategic Responsibilities • You will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) coding assistants to improve productivity. • You will use AI-powered tools for development, testing, and debugging activities. • You will contribute to prompts, workflows, and orchestration capabilities supporting AI-enabled engineering. • You will help drive adoption of modern engineering and automation practices. • You will support platform reliability, governance, security, and operational excellence. • You will continuously learn emerging technologies and platform engineering approaches. What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role? Experience • 2–3+ years of software engineering experience. • Experience with backend, cloud, or platform development. • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and source control tools. • Experience developing software using Python. • Exposure to reusable frameworks, platform services, or shared libraries is preferred. • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows is advantageous. Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline. • Equivalent practical experience may be considered. Technical Skills • Python and object-oriented programming. • Amazon Web Services (AWS) including Lambda, S3, Glue, ECS, and Event Bridge. • APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. • Event-driven architecture patterns. • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices. • GitLab, CI/CD automation, and deployment pipelines. • Docker and Kubernetes fundamentals. • Data Lake, Kafka, Kinesis, and streaming technologies. • Airflow, observability, and monitoring tools. Soft Skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Effective communication and collaboration skills. • Curiosity and passion for learning. • Strong ownership and accountability. • Attention to detail and quality. • Enthusiasm for AI, cloud-native technologies, and platform engineering.
