**Role & responsibilities** **Job Title** **System Engineer / Linux & Database Support Engineer** **Location** Bangalore (Work from office) **Role Summary** We are seeking a skilled professional with strong expertise in **Operating Systems, SQL databases, and Linux environments** to manage, maintain, and optimize system performance, database operations, and infrastructure reliability. **Key Responsibilities** **Linux & OS Administration** - Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) - Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting - Manage user access, file systems, permissions, and system security - Handle OS-level patching, upgrades, and vulnerability fixes - Monitor system logs and proactively resolve issues **Database (SQL) Management** - Write and optimize SQL queries (joins, indexing, procedures) - Perform database monitoring, backup, and recovery operations - Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize database performance - Support database deployments, patches, and upgrades - Work with relational databases like **MySQL / PostgreSQL / SQL Server / Oracle** **Application & Production Support** - Provide L2/L3 support for production issues - Analyze logs and debug application/system issues - Coordinate with developers and infrastructure teams for resolution - Ensure high availability and uptime of systems **Automation & Scripting** - Develop shell scripts for automation (Bash/Shell scripting) - Automate repetitive system and database tasks - Improve operational efficiency through scripting **Monitoring & Incident Management** - Use monitoring tools (Nagios, Splunk, Prometheus, etc.) - Respond to alerts and resolve incidents within SLA - Participate in on-call rotations (if required) **Required Skills** **Must-Have Skills:** - Strong knowledge of **Linux/Unix operating systems** - Proficiency in **SQL (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning)** - Experience in **shell scripting (Bash)** - Understanding of OS concepts: memory, processes, threads, I/O, networking - Hands-on troubleshooting skills **Good-to-Have Skills:** - Knowledge of **cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)** - Exposure to **DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)** - Familiarity with **ITIL processes (incident/change management)** - Experience with **monitoring/logging tools** - Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, ports) **Preferred candidate profile** Immediate Joiner All 5 days work from office 24\\*7 shift
